Greetings!

October marks the official start of fall, as pumpkins appear, leaves begin to change and the weather starts to get a little cooler. October is also National Art and Framing Month. Founded in 1997, National Art & Framing Month is an opportunity to "Picture the Possibilities" that art and framing can bring to homes, offices and public spaces.

We would love for you to stop by Studio 3 this month so we can show you what a great picture frame can do for your art.

We wish everyone a Happy Halloween, and hope that you will stop by the shop on October 31st to see our shop dogs in their wonderful costumes.

New! The Madison Collection

madison collection
Introducing the new Madison Collection at Studio 3.  An extension to traditional furniture finish mouldings. This collection features nine mouldings and a combination of mahogany and warm cherry stains contrasted with black backs and lips.

Finishes are applied directly to the wood so the grain and natural beauty of the moulding is enhanced. This is a high quality moulding suitable for a wide range of applications; including etchings, engravings, botanicals, hunt scenes, diplomas and every form of traditional print of graphic.

To see this collection in person please stop by our shop.

Updating a Bathroom Mirror

bathroom mirror
One of the bathrooms in my new house came with a built in cabinet and mirror. I wasn't too happy with the currently designed mirror, because each panel opened separately - making it difficult to get the objects on the shelves out. The shelving part of the cabinet was actually inset into the wall, which would make removing it altogether difficult. So instead I came up with a simple solution to the problem.

I removed the existing mirrors and doors and measured the entire opening of the shelves (allowing extra space on both the top, bottom, and sides). I then chose a frame at Studio 3 that complimented my bathroom decor. I had Studio 3 place a 1/16 mirror into the frame and I chose my favorite wrapping paper as the dust cover on the back of the frame. I then picked up some heavy duty hinges and screws at the local hardware store which I used to attach one side of my frame to the wall (be sure to use molly's if inserting into drywall instead of a stud).

With a simple framed mirror from Studio 3 I was able to completely update the look of my bathroom. The plus side is that if my taste ever changes or I redo my bathroom I can always swap out the picture frame for a new one in the future.

Infantales - Local Business

Infantales

Infantales is a great Downingtown business that makes prints that tell about the birth of your child.

Starting from a hand-drawn colored pencil original, each custom print is digitally reproduced with your baby's personal information, making your print a truly unique keepsake. Printed using today's state-of-the-art techniques, the finished piece is of the highest quality both aesthetically and technically. The piece is printed on heavyweight (308gsm) Hahnemühle Photo Rag Paper, a beautifully finished photographic matte paper from a legendary fine art paper manufacturer. (Founded in 1584, the products produced by these masters are renowned for their aesthetics and enduring permanence. It is a 100% cotton, acid-free paper, as beautiful to the touch as it is to the eye.) Printed using pigmented inks, not dyes, this print should last for a lifetime when properly displayed. In a study conducted by Wilhelm Imaging Research, our printing method was estimated to produce prints which will last over 90 years under normal circumstances when properly stored or displayed.

You have the option of purchasing these prints framed or unframed. Framing is done professionally at Studio 3 with archival quality materials, or you can choose to pick your own framing by bringing the print into Studio 3. I think they would make a great child's first birthday gift.
