New Biltmore Moulding Collection!

biltmore

Biltmore™, America's Largest Home is located in picturesque Asheville, North Carolina. Built between 1889-1895, it is known for its relaxed elegance and exceptional treasures, including original art from masters such as Pierre-August Renoir and John Singer Sergeant.

The frames surrounding these great works of art served as the inspiration for the Biltmore™ Collection available at Studio 3. Reminiscent of Biltmore's antique frames, with their intricate details, aged patina and rich finishes, the Biltmore Frame Collection brings the grandeur and tradition of this great home to art & custom framing.

The Biltmore Collectionbrings the tradition of this grand home together with modern design, making it a perfect fit for many home decor styles. This collection is the U.S. framing industry's first PEFC collection. PEFC, which stands for Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, traces the chain of custody of lumber product from forest to final product. Through PEFC, consumers can be confident that they are purchasing a product that is from a well-managed, sustainable forest.

Framing 101

frame collection
A frame can often be as important as the picture it surrounds; yet in the quest to display our art, the frame is frequently overlooked. Give your next framing project the attention it deserves by asking yourself:

What is the intent of the frame?
Space and decor are important concerns if the painting will be hanging in your home.

Does the frame match the style of the artwork?
A delicate painting could be overwhelmed by a heavy frame. Conversely, "underframing" means the frame is too weak to support the art.

Does the frame's color/patina complement the painting's colors?
Paintings can be "warm" or "cool". The dominating tone should be echoed by the frame.

Does the frame strike a balance?
A frame can harmonize or contrast with the art, but it should never blend into the painting.

Is it practical?
A frame should protect the art and be stable.

Is it meaningful?
The frame should bring the art's history to life and pay homage to that time.

Are you afraid to hang a beautiful frame without a painting?
Get over it! A frame can surround objets d'art, treasured antique books, or fresh flowers. Use your imagination.
