Peer Awards
On Saturday evening, October 20, 2007, three hundred talented men and women of the local Washington, DC film and video community donned their dressy duds and attended the 37th annual Peer Awards gala. Hosted by ITVA/TIVA-DC, The Peer Awards ceremony returned to the National Press Club to honor the men and women of excellence in film and video in the nation's capital. The standing-room-only crowd cheered as almost 75 of Washington's finest were called to the podium by veteran announcer, Paul Anthony, to receive a beautiful trophy or certificate of merit and have their photo taken by photographer,
Bob Morrison.
Joining the winner's circle were Anne Schwab, President and Liliane Blom, Vice President of Creative Management Services on Capitol Hill for their video on Internet protocol produced for Veterans Affairs. The video titled: "IPv6: the Next Generation" swept away two coveted awards: "Best Internal Communication Video Under $50,000," and "Best Director, Internal Communications Video Under $50,000."
Writer/director, Anne Schwab and her team had a challenge when they received a rather dry topic for the video, changing Internet protocol. Allowed to deal with the topic creatively and innovatively, Anne developed a slightly over-the-top script with a talking car and a
si-fi mayonnaise jar. The result, a dynamic, compelling video that moves the audience to take action to meet President Bush's mandate. All agencies of the government must update their existing Internet protocol from IPv4 to IPv6 by June, 2008.
Anne Schwab, part of a production team headed by Dave Dolinsky, co-wrote the independent short, "Shattered Imperfection," which also won a
Peer Award.
Liliane Blom, also an artist and photographer, won the only award given for photography with her entry, "Golden Girl." |
