We only get one body on this planet.....
It's important than to know ....
S**t vs. Shinola
Remember that movie The Jerk where Navin Johnson (Steve Martin) is instructed
in the difference between
s**t and shinola from his father?
What if you went out to eat
once and ended up at Del Taco
and you got salmonella, would you never ever ever eat out again?
Then let's say the next time you ate out it was somewhere spectacular...like
Subway..LOL...and you were like wow...that was really efficient!
I'm always fascinated by those folks who have had the unfortunate experience
(or have paid to get injured by) and bad bad experiences with new to market, or
just bad retail trainers, and then swear off personal training.
Reminds me of a story:
Years ago I ruined my voice teaching at a place with no microphone and I did
not purchase my own because the employees were told that the business would
purchase it for all instructors. Well they never did. I ended that
job with permanent damage to my vocal chords.
What did I learn? Should have spent the $$ and saved my voice. Now you
know I could've been Madonna but here I am :)
That's your spine you are risking. This is not like totaling your car and
then just replacing it. One body, one spine. That's it. Pay
attention to detail.
The investment is meant to HELP you. Please don't pay for injuries.
Sheesh!
Bad choices and bad shopping is just that. It happens to all of us; whether
cars or gyms.
But please don't toss all trainers into the same "bin". You
would not do that with cars or restaurants and it should not apply here.
Not all trainers are created equal. It's as different as Del Taco vs.
Ruth Chris's (in a very organic vegetarian sense, of course).
Prius vs. Fiat....you get it!
It's just like shopping for anything else; you should take some time to assess
what you really want? What do you need? Personal training is
personal!
Expertise?
Experience?
Results?
Is it accountability?
Fun?
Someone who loves to workout?
Do you want to pay someone you can't stand? Would you rather connect well
with them?
Do you want to work with a real human that has the capacity to actually be a
friend?
Do you want someone who understands first hand the workout or event you have in
mind?
Do you want to workout in the morning? If so, are they a morning person?
Are you already doing moves you've only seen in Cirque de Soleil, and you are
just starting out?
I can share with you what I love and hate, but this is about YOU.
PERSONAL training.
We get one body on this planet.
Not all trainers are created equal....There is particle board and there is
titanium.
Also just like all things, "celebrity" trainers...I mean, how does
that help you if someone trained Celine Dion once? High price tag for
some names on a resume....so just like all shopping, price doesn't always
connotate quality. ((I love it even more, by the way, when you haven't even HEARD of the
"celebrity"....bah! If I have to wikipedia the names then it
just doesn't count!))
Know the difference!
Love love love,
Michele your Titanium Trainer :)

Wow is Right.
One of my best friends on the planet, Trouble, emailed me this story and only said "Wow." Well....wow he sure knows me well cause wow is right. I love challenged athletes and this is just about the most awesome thing I've ever seen!
"A double amputee who lost both her legs as a child has turned into a
mermaid with the help of an Oscar-winning special-effects workshop. Nadya Vessey, from Auckland, New Zealand, suffered a medical condition as a child that forced doctors to amputate both her legs. When a little boy asked her what happened to her legs, she told him she was a mermaid. The idea stuck - and, two years ago, she wrote to Oscar-winning
special effects company Weta Workshop in Wellington, New Zealand, to
ask them to make her a tail. She never believed they actually would. But
for the people behind the special effects in blockbuster hits like
'Lord of the Rings', 'The Chronicles of Narnia', and 'King Kong', the
task was a piece of cake. Now the astounded - and delighted - Nadya has a fully-functioning tail. It comes complete with a fitted suit, and covered with digitally printed sock with hand-painted mermaid scales. 'A
prosthetic is a prosthetic, and your body has to be comfortable with it
and you have to mentally make it part of yourself,' Nadya, who has been
swimming in a pool and Auckland Harbour, told New Zealand media."
If you are a mermaid or in the industry you will appreciate the other fotos on the link below..enjoy!
