No Money for Professional Development?

La Conner Flats--another of our stops in our full-day Skagitt Valley Tour!

Our second stop of the Saturday tour will be La Conner Flats, home of Seattle Culinary Academy’s summer culinary program.  Each week their students travel to LCF to learn about farming and harvest produce to use in the kitchen during the week.  A combination of lecture, hands-on, and guest speakers present the students with a true farming experience.

For more information on our July 27-29 “Learning From the Ground Up” workshop, go to http://www.cafemeetingplace.com/2012-events/sustainability.html  This event is limited to 30 participants.

Hotel Contessa, our host during the 2012 CAFÉ Leadership Conference!

Hotel Contessa Luxury Suite on the Riverwalk is a real gem!

Rooms have either a king or two double beds plus a separate living room with a full size sofa bed.  The bathrooms are “oversize” and the hotel features floor to ceiling windows with views to the Riverwalk.  Internet is included along with two 17-inch televisions and the hotel is pet friendly.

The lobby is spacious and the outside patio enjoys the quieter side of the famed Riverwalk.  We have an excellent rate of $129+ and the hotel has all of the amenities you would expect (pool, workout room, spa, restaurant, etc).

Cut off date for our room block is May 21.  You may find cheaper rooms in San Antonio (which I did when I was looking last fall), but there are none as nice as this nor in as great a location.

Educational Best Practices

We are putting our full-day program together on educational best practices and are still open for some proposals regarding your interest in presenting.  Plus there will be opportunities for hosting roundtables discussions during lunch that day!  Contact marypetersen@prodigy.net or mayoconsulting@aol.com with your ideas!

THANK YOU!!

The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board Contest deadline was Friday, March 16th, and we were (gratefully) overwhelmed with 75 applications!

Thank you all for your interest in this topic!  Notifications to the 10 selected instructors will be in mid-April for the May Tour and Symposium.

The WMMB has long been a partner and supporter of culinary educators and foodservice education.  Stay tuned for other ways that you may be able to interact with them and their excellent resources.
