On-line registration for CAFÉ Leadership Conference and Workshops
You can now register on-line for the 2011 CAFÉ Conference and Workshops. Registration can be submitted electronically or the form may be downloaded and faxed or mailed to the office. There are discounts for multiple attendees from a single school (district). Purchase Orders or credit cards are accepted.
Please note: Breakout sessions and master class choices will be posted within a few weeks. You will be contacted for your choice if you register prior to their being listed on-line.
Sustainability Summit for Educators
Mark July 15-17, 2011 on your calendars for the first-ever Sustainability Summit for Educators, hosted by Kendall College in Chicago.
This week-end event has several unique features:
Market trip plus mystery basket exercise
Heirloom products tastings
Curriculum suggestions
Resources from national sustainability/greening organizations
Hearing from industry and educational experts in the area
The event is open to individuals and trainers who are looking for “first (or intermediate) steps” in incorporating sustainability into their operations and/or curriculum. The program begins on Friday afternoon and concludes Sunday afternoon.
Healthy Kids Challenge has teamed up with Del Monte and educational partners, Johnson & Wales University and the Home Baking Association to present the 9th annual Stirring Up Health recipe contest to promote healthy cooking.
The recipe contest aims to get middle school students into the kitchen. The challenge is for middle school students to develop or modify an existing recipe to make it healthier using Del Monte brand fruits, vegetables, or tomatoes as a primary ingredient. Incorporating healthy baking as part of their creation is encouraged.
For the first time in its 34 year history, L’Academie de Cuisine in the Washington, DC area, will offer an evening professional Culinary Arts Program, led by Chef Frank Morales.
Chef Morales was most recently at the helm of Blue Ridge restaurant in Georgetown, DC when it was deemed one of the “top 20 restaurants in the world” by Esquire Magazine.
