Christopher Koetke, MBA, CEC, CCE, dean of Kendall College School of Culinary Arts and vice president of the Laureate International Universities Centers of Excellence n Culinary Arts, was honored in Boston on October 4 at the Chefs Collaborative sustainability Awards Dinner. Dean Koetke received the organization’s inaugural Pathfinder Award for his dedication to raising awareness of the importance of sustainability in the food industry.
The carving club from the Columbus Culinary Institute at Bradford School competed and won first place at the 2010 US Collegiate Carving Artists Event. The team is led by chef instructor Nicole Bennet, CEC and associate chef instructor Jeffrey Cole. The event was hosted by The Farmers’ Market in Holland, Michigan.
The Culinary Institute of America had its formal opening of its newly expanded third campus in San Antonio, Texas. According to President Dr. Tim Ryan: (The mission of the campus) is to help elevate Latin American cuisines to their rightful places among the great cuisines of the world and to provide access to world-class CIA education to young Latinos, so that they can assume the mantle of culinary leadership in the generations to come.”
Culinary Education Symposium
CAFÉ is proud to announce the 2011 Symposium on Culinary Teaching, Assessment, Technology, and Program Development, June 23, 2011, preceding the 7th Annual Leadership Conference in Providence, Rhode Island.
The one-day Symposium is dedicated to scholarly presentations and workshops that participants will have the opportunity to explore one of four topics in great scope.
There is a Call for Proposals on the CAFÉ website which are due February 1. The Symposium will cost $75 which will include lunch and transportation from the conference hotel as well as award 1 CEU (and 7-10 ACF continuing education hours). Attendees who register for the Leadership Conference will deduct the $75 from their conference registration of $399.
Registration will be on line beginning November 1.
