Johnson & Wales University, host to The Latin Event
Five reasons to attend this week-end workshop October 22-24:
Latin continues to be a HOT cuisine, including S. America as well as Caribbean dishes and the JWU/N. Miami team has some first-rate instructors who have specialized in this cuisine.
Steve Jilleba, CMC, will not only be presenting to attendees, but is also managing the Culinary Olympic Team’s practice session on the JWU campus the same week-end!
The tour/chef’s demonstration at the Fruit & Spice Park is unique, educational, and entertaining.
The event offers attendees not only continuing education units, but also continuing education hours from the ACF.
The price is right! $199 (plus $75 materials fee) which includes the workshop, chef’s jacket, knife kit, field trip, reception, two breakfasts, and two lunches and ACF CEH’s. And if this is your second 2010 CAFÉ event, subtract an additional $100! Plus the hotel is on the ocean and has special rates for our group at $99/night. (Hint: fly into Ft. Lauderdale; it’s closer)
Talk about fresh! The culinary arts students at Kendall College harvest vegetables from a garden adjacent to the campus, and instructor Peggy Ryan, daytime executive chef of The Dining Room at Kendall College (and WCR’s 2009 Educator of the year), whips up tasty dishes featuring just-picked produce, for a segment on WCIU-TV (The “U”) in Chicago.
