Join educators from around the U.S. on October 22-24, 2010, in N. Miami, to participate in the first-ever Latin Event hosted by The Center for the Advancement of Foodservice Education (CAFÉ).
The workshop begins on Friday afternoon and concludes on Sunday afternoon. Special presentations highlighting foods and cooking methods of S. America and the Caribbean will help attendees broaden their “international cooking” classes as well as understand the influences on our own “American cuisine.”
Master Chef Steve Jilleba will be presenting on cuisines from Peru and Brazil; Executive Chef Jorge de la Torre will be showcasing Spanish-influence Wisconsin cheeses, and you will hear from other culinary experts in the area on Latin dishes and desserts.
There is a special field trip to the Food & Spice Park in Redlands, Florida scheduled for Sunday which will include a special chef’s presentation. Go to fruitandspicepark.org to learn more about this incredible culinary resource.
The Fruit & Spice Park is the only tropical botanical garden of its kind in the United States. The unique 37-acre public facility is owned and operated by the Miami-Dade County Park and Recreation Department. Located in South Florida. The Park's tropical climate can be found nowhere else in the continental U.S. and hosts over 500 varieties of fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, and nuts, and other commercially important plant specimens from around the world.
CAFÉ is offering this event at a special price of $199 plus $75 materials fee. The registration includes breakfasts, lunches, a welcome reception, field trip to the Park, as well as a chef’s jacket and knife kit for the hands-on portion of the week-end.
