Aria Las Vegas--the Jewel in the City Center Crown
At the heart of the new City Center, lies the Aria Resort and Casino. Why is this of interest to our attendees of the FOH National Symposium?
It is the newest property in Las Vegas, leading the way for hospitality design and practices throughout the U.S.
Aria fuses modern architecture with environmental sustainabilityLeeds Gold certified (Yes, there is natural light coming from floor to ceiling windows as well as furnishings using reclaimed wood and stone in addition to water conservation practices- in contrast to the rest of Las Vegas)
There are 16 restaurants and 10 barsall with leading edge concepts
Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michael Mina, Sino Maccioni and Julian Serrano all have lent their concepts to dining at Aria as well as Masayoshi Takayama and Shawn McClain as newcomers to the Las Vegas scene
Attendees of the CAFE FOH National Symposium will be given a private tour of both the front and back of the house of Aria Las Vegas on Sunday morning, March 7. For a full (updated) agenda, hotel information, and on-line registration, go to CAFEs Events page at www.CafeMeetingPlace.com.
The Latin Table -- Master Chef Steve Jilleba
CAFE is fortunate to be working once again with Steve Jilleba, CMC, CEC, AAC, corporate chef from Unilever Foodservice.
This year our theme is the Latin Table! There will be two opportunities for foodservice educators and trainers to work hands on with a Master Chef.
On June 25, Chef Jilleba will be presenting a Master Class on foods and flavors from Peru and Brazil. The class is limited to 20 and Chef Jilleba will keep everyone busy preparing regional dishes from each South American country.
Unilever in conjunction with The Culinary Institute of America has produced an excellent DVD about these cuisines which attendees will receive.
Chef Jilleba has committed to not only sharing his knowledge gained from culinary travels in these countries, but to assist educators in gaining confidence so that their knowledge can be passed on to their students.Get more information about the CAFE Leadership Conference.
Master Classes are limited in size; they are included in your registration fee for the Conference. And you will receive continuing education hours for your participation in the class.
The second opportunity will be at the NEW Latin Event, to be hosted by Johnson & Wales University in N. Miami, October 22-24, 2010. Stay tuned for the full agenda to be posted. The Event will include hands on instruction as well as a special culinary tour.
