The deity Murugan has long been regarded as the "Dravidian" god par excellence, and is closely associated with Tamil Shaivite Hinduism. FEATURED: 15TH SEAPAVAA Conference and General Assembly The National Archives Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 6 -10 June 2011
With the theme of "Archive Management," the 15th Southeast Asia-Pacific Audiovisual Archive Association (SEAPAVAA) Conference in Kuala Lumpur seeks to address the concerns and meet the challenges that face film archives today in light of rapid developments in technology, the heightened need for access of information, and the maintenance and preservation of archives around the world. The conference includes a symposium, roundtable discussions, a one-day workshop, archival gem screenings, institutional visits, the General Assembly, and a retreat-excursion. Alongside the conference is a parallel event, the Coordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Associations (CCAAA) meeting hosted by SEAPAVAA. more info Southeast Asian Press Alliance Journalism Fellowship Deadline: 22 April 2011 The program is open to nationals of Southeast Asian countries who are interested in exploring and producing in-depth stories on cross-border or regional issues on the theme, 'Gearing up for a Community in 2015: How Free is the Flow of Information in ASEAN?' The Hawai`i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (HSFCA) announces the availability of its 2012/2013 Folk & Traditional Arts Culture Learning Grants application for eligible non-profit organizations. Organizations must have at least one year of experience in programs in which children and/or families learn through hands-on experience about their own culture's artistic traditions (e.g., song and music, dance, storytelling, arts and crafts).
