and religion shaping Asian beliefs and values. Students will read novels about Indonesia (by
Pramoedya Ananta Toer), China (by Wang Shuo), and India (by Farahad
Zamar). We will also engage shorter works by writers from the
Philippines, Okinawa and other countries. Semester activities include a field trip to the Honolulu
