New CSEAS Staff Addition Mr. Leon Potter, Student Assistant & Doctoral Student at the College of Education
CSEAS welcomes to the staff Mr. Leon Potter, a doctoral student whose dissertation includes research on Vietnamese Heritage
Language Learners. He has completed four-years of Vietnamese language
classes and is also currently studying 3rd-year Thai language. For the
last three summers, Leon has gone to Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand to
participate in a teaching practicum at the University of Ubon Rajathani
for the Department of Second Language Studies. He has also been heavily
involved in the subtitling for the Center and worked on many films
including Passerine Bird(Con Chim Vành Khuyên), The Lotus (Bông Sen),
and Holy Days (Ngày Lễ Thánh) with former CSEAS staff member Le Vinh Hoa.

Students will learn (a) about contemporary Indonesian history, (b) how to "read" a film, (c) how to write about a film from a variety of theoretical perspectives and (d) have a chance to talk with Indonesian filmmakers about their projects in a classroom setting.
