Web Resources
Asian Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore -
The Asia Research
Institute (ARI) was established as a university-level institute in July
2001 as one of the strategic initiatives of the National University of
Singapore (NUS). Its mission is to provide a world-class focus and
resource for research on the Asian region, located at one of its
communication hubs.
Image Database to Enhance Asian Studies (IDEAS) - The goal of the Image Database to Enhance Asian Studies [IDEAS] is to
unify digitizing efforts already in progress at various campuses into a
shared searchable database, open to anyone with access to the World
Wide Web. IDEAS focuses on the generally underrepresented area of Asia
in an attempt to make multi-media materials more widely available for
specialists and non-specialists alike. IDEAS is the first
multi-institutional, interdisciplinary, pan-Asian searchable database
in the country.
Indonesian Census Data - The main purpose is to enhance data used in project identification, design
and evaluation for projects and programs at the district and provincial level
of Indonesian government. To facilitate this a set of training modules is available
for training BPS staff and university students in concepts and methods of analysis
of district level data.
South & Southeast Asia Art and Archaeology Index - The ABIA project is a global network of scholars co-operating on an
annotated bibliographic database for publishers covering South and
Southeast Asian art and archaeology. The project was launched in 1997
at the initiative of the International Institute for Asian Studies
in Leiden, the Netherlands, in colloaboration with international
scholars and Asian academic institutes. The project receives scientific
support from UNESCO.
Southeast Asian Images & Texts - SouthEast Asian images & Texts brings
together, in digital form, two categories of primary and secondary
resources: research and teaching materials created by University of
Wisconsin faculty and staff; and unique or valuable items related to
these fields held by the University of Wisconsin Libraries.
SOAS Bulletin of Burma Research - The SOAS Bulletin of
Burma Research (the SBBR) was established in 2003 by founding
editor Dr.
Michael W. Charney for the purpose of making available to the
broader
academic community research, resources, reviews, and information
critical for the study of Burma, also known as Myanmar. SBBR
articles and documents are posted
online immediately on issue for free downloading to anyone, anywhere,
with an interest in the society, culture, and history of one of Asia's
most interesting countries.
