San Art Opens New Location
in Ho Chi Minh City

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to finally announce that on June 12, 2009, Sàn Art will be re-opening at our new space located at 3 Mê Linh, District Bình Thạnh, only a couple of minutes from our previous address. This new space features a slightly larger exhibition area and a reading room with the latest books and magazine issues on contemporary art.

To mark this special occasion we will hold an opening reception from 6-9pm on June 12, for the opening of "Blink", an exhibition
featuring 10 up and coming Vietnamese artists.

This small selection of work ranges from painting, photography,
performance, and works on paper, illustrating the emerging voices of Vietnam's youngest generation of practicing artists. Whether it is the search for a visual language beyond the consumer art-object or questioning ideas of what is natural in a digital world that is full of copies - this small group of eager experimenters chase the experience of the everyday as inspiration.

Please visit our website for the latest information regarding art lectures, exhibitions, and more. We look forward to seeing you!

Best,

Sàn Art

June 09 Letter from Lontar

Dear Supporters of Indonesian Art,

A month ago I sent a message to friends and colleagues asking people to consider making a contribution to the Lontar Foundation. The names of those who responded to our request-along with other contributors in 2009-may be seen at our website. To all persons and institutions whose names appear on the list, we extend our heartfelt thanks!  We received a number of untraceable contributions as well. If your name is not on Lontar's donors list, please inform us of the date of your contribution and the bank through which you sent it so that we may amend the list.

In this and the monthly messages that will follow, I will inform you of projects in which Lontar is involved and appraise you of our funding needs. Today, I'd like to tell you of just three:

  • The Lontar Anthology of Indonesian Drama
  • The Shadow Theater Educational Package
  • Menagerie 7 and Menagerie 8
For a completed information about these projects, click here.Thank you for your attention and understanding.

Your sincerely,
