Small Research Grants Program 2009-2010 The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD) Chiang Mai University
This program aims to heighten capacity of human resources in the Mekong Region by using social science tools in exploring and understanding changes, relationships and complexity of issues, such as transborder, resource management, ethnicity, cultural diversity etc. in the context of regionalized development. It also aims to enhance understanding, information sharing and mutual learning regarding emerging issues of the Mekong Region, linked to a deeper and boarder conceptual understanding and analysis. The Small Research Grants Program will provide the opportunity for interested people, who hold the citizenships of Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and China, from both the academic and non-academic sectors to conduct research in the area of social science and sustainable development focusing on the Mekong Region. Mid-career researchers, NGO workers, development practitioners, and M.A and PhD. students who are pursuing field research are eligible to applying for this type of research grants.

International Fellow/Senior Advisor to Justice and History Outreach Project in Cambodia International Center for Conciliation (ICfC)
International Fellow/Senior Advisor works with the International Center for Conciliation team (country staff, peer fellows, consultants, and interns) and external parties (civil society actors and international funders) to organize the various components needed to successfully initiate, run, and conclude the Justice and History Outreach Project in Cambodia. He/she will offer intellectual leadership of the program, ensure the smooth running and culmination of the program, and ascertain the quality of theoretical approach as well as the practical impact of efforts of the Center. This is a tremendous leadership opportunity for a graduate student who is interested in strengthening program and managerial skills.

Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies University of San Diego
The University of San Diego and the Ethnic Studies Program invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies with a specialization in Asian American/Pacific Islander Studies beginning in the Fall 2009. Candidates should have expertise in social movements with an emphasis in transnationalism and/or environmental justice. All candidates must hold a PhD or terminal degree in Ethnic Studies or related fields. Applicants must be able to teach Asian American Studies and Comparative Ethnic Studies courses utilizing interdisciplinary teaching and critical scholarly perspectives.

Call for Photos SEARAC's 30th Anniversary Gala "Beyong the Mekong: Celebrating Our 30 Years of Service within the Southeast Asian Community." September 26, 2009 San Francisco, California
The Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) is seeking photos of families of Cambodian, Hmong, Laotian and Vietnamese descent that illustrate their journey to America, their resettlement experiences in the U.S., and/or of their local community. The collected photos will be showcased in a slideshow to be presented at SEARAC's 30th Anniversary Gala entitled, "Beyond the Mekong: Celebrating our 30 Years of Service within the Southeast Asian Community." Now in its fifth year!
We've
had another amazing year of films from Southeast Asia! Our mailing list
continues to grow and now reaches 320 fans of Southeast Asian film.
Since the beginning of the fall 2008 semester, we screened 37 films
attended by more than 1,500 people! Thanks to everyone for their
support! We'll be bringing back more films from Southeast Asia this
summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the first screening
of the fall 2009 semester. Stay tuned for announcements as that day
approaches!
