Vietnam Resident Director

CET Academic Programs
June 2009 - June 2011

CET Academic Programs is a private study abroad organization based in Washington, DC that has been designing and administering educational programs abroad since 1982. We offer study abroad programs in Vietnam, China, the Czech Republic and Italy.

The Vietnam Resident Director (RD) is responsible for managing CET's Vietnam Immersion, which operates during the spring, summer, and fall terms. He/she also manages the development and implementation of additional short-term programs. Summer terms typically see multiple programs. The Vietnam RD is the only CET staff member onsite in Vietnam and as such is responsible for all aspects of the program.

Lecturer in a Writing Program
National University of Singapore

We are looking for colleagues who can teach academic writing through topic-specific interdisciplinary courses in the Writing and Critical Thinking domain of the University Scholars Programme, National University of Singapore. Appointments are non tenure-track (Lecturer or above), and are normally for 3 years in the first instance, but renewable multiple times. The normal teaching load is 2/2, and each writing class is capped at 12-15 students. Appointees should hold a Ph.D. in an academic discipline and be active scholars. Prior teaching experience in a writing programme is a plus. They will also have opportunities to teach non-writing courses in their discipline. Remuneration and benefits are competitive. We are looking for candidates who can begin as soon as possible. The current positions will remain open until filled, but review will begin on 11 May 2009.  Interested applicants should submit their applications with a cover letter; a resume; and a statement of the principles that underlie their teaching. Grants for Social Science Research on Pentecostal and charismatic Christianity in Asia
Center for Religion and Civic Culture
University of Southern California

The Center for Religion and Civic Culture at the University of Southern California  has launched the Pentecostal and Charismatic Research Initiative  with support from the John Templeton Foundation . The initiative will provide up to a total of $3.5 million in grants to support social science research on Pentecostal and charismatic Christianity in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union.

PCRI will provide up to seven grants to establish or support research networks and centers. Applicants may request up to $500,000 a year for two years. Proposals may include scholars from North America and Europe, but the core component of research staff must be located in the region of focus.

PCRI will provide grant support for up to fifteen projects ($100,000 each) over two years to support scholarly research in the region of focus. Joint proposals, for example between a graduate student and his/her adviser, or between two scholars are eligible.

Encyclopedia of Women and Islamic Cultures (EWIC)

The Encyclopedia of Women and Islamic Cultures (EWIC) is an interdisciplinary encyclopedia project focusing on women and Islamic cultures, published by Brill (2003-2008) as a 6-volume, 2 million words, 1,246 articles scholarly resource (print edition). We invite interested scholars, including graduate students, to complete the scholars' template for publication on our free, on-line searchable EWIC Scholars' Database and for possible invitation to contribute articles to EWIC On Line.  Please visit our website and follow the link to the contributor template. The Lontar Foundation, a not-for-profit organization based in Jakarta, was founded in 1987 for the purpose of promoting appreciation of Indonesian culture. Since its establishment, Lontar has released more than 100 books on Indonesian language, literature, and culture; produced 24 documentary films on Indonesian writers and 32 performance videos on Indonesian performance traditions; and initiated a wide range of educational activities.
