Sumitro Fellowships for Post-doctoral Scholars, Ph.D. Candidates or Senior Academics
The United States-Indonesia Society (USINDO)

USINDO offers two Sumitro Fellowships for post-doctoral scholars, Ph.D. candidates, senior academics, and otherwise professionally qualified candidates who wish to engage in field research in Indonesia on an economic or political-economic topic.  One grant is available to United States citizens and permanent residents in the United States with a specific project on a topic relating to the political economy of Indonesia. The other Sumitro Fellowship is also open to an Indonesian citizen with a project related to the Indonesian-United States relationship.

Ancient Khmer and Southeast Asian Ceramics: New Archaeological Findings, Production and the Revival of Techniques
National Center for Khmer Ceramics Revival
Center for Khmer Studies and Heritage Watch
Siem Reap, December 10-12, 2008

This conference aims to bring together Cambodian and international scholars specialized in ancient Khmer ceramics, with contemporary potters and craftsmen working in the revival of ancient production techniques. The objective is to raise awareness of the archaeological importance of ancient Cambodian ceramics and the new opportunities for sustainable economic development in the region through ceramic technology.

Scholars based in Southeast Asia are especially encouraged to participate.

Please submit titles and short abstracts (300 words maximum) and contact details to conference@khmerstudies.org by October 15, 2008.
