We still have a few spaces available in some of our summer resident camp sessions. From Camp Marydale's horse camps to Camp Whispering Pines rock wall and zip line, our campers are bound to have an unforgettable summer vacation. Make your plans today to have the outdoor adventure of your summer.

Troop Paperwork due June 1 for Troop Audit

On June 1 the end of the year troop leader paperwork is due to your service unit team. Each troop leader is responsible to complete and turn in the following: final troop budget, updated troop outing form with community service hours, bank account verification and looking ahead form. Due to the end of the year activities/schedules service unit teams may schedule an earlier due date than June 1.

Covington Girl Scout Service Unit to build stairs to river at Camp Covington June 10

Covington Service Unit 380 successfully raised the money needed for its 100th Anniversary Take Action project: building steps down to the bank of the Bogue Falaya River at Camp Covington, but still needs volunteer labor! If you can assist on Sunday, June 10, please contact Debbie Melancon at 985-893-2133. There will be a general clean up of the camp so even younger Girl Scouts can participate.

Shop for a Cause at Macy's on August 25

Girl Scouts Louisiana East is partnering with Macy's to Shop for a Cause on Saturday, August 25! Purchase a Shopping Pass for $5 from either Council shop, beginning June 4, to receive 25% off ALL DAY on regular, sale, and clearance items and save 10% on electrics/electronics, furniture, mattresses, and rugs/floor coverings in every Macy's store and online at www.macys.com.  

 

If you would like to sell these passes at your service unit meetings, please contact Carrie Thomas at 504-733-8220, ext. 2245. Sell them to your friends and family members or purchase one for yourself. Please do not give them away!

 

 Give the perfect Father's Day gift to your Girl Scout dad - a Saturday morning of golf in the FOREver Green 9-Hole Golf Tournament

 

Registration is now open for the FOREver Green 9-Hole Golf Tournament two-person scamble, Saturday, June 23, 9 a.m. tee time, Stonebridge Golf Club of New Orleans.

 

Enjoy nine holes of golf on a beautiful course at Stonebridge on the westbank of New Orleans.  It's just $120 for a twosome, with food and adult beverages provided. Miller Lite and Coors are golf tournament sponsors, and additional tournament sponsors are needed. All proceeds benefit Girl Scouts Louisiana East.

 

 

Take a family staycation this Fourth of July

Not sure what to do this Fourth of July? Why not take a Family Staycation at Camp Covington or Camp Whispering Pines! Enjoy a firework display over Timber Lake at CWP July 4! At a cost of only $45 for a family of five per night, families can enjoy swimming, canoeing, fishing, archery, easy to moderate hiking trails, fitness stations, outdoor games and stargazing, with a trained staff onsite each day to help facilitate activities.  Click here for more info.

 

With the staycation option, families can take full advantage of our properties including the Whispering Pines pool, lake, and rock climbing wall and zip line. You can also venture off site during your stay. The Northshore is a fun place to explore, and there are some great excursions nearby including horseback riding stables and Global Wildlife Safari.

Girls, let us know what kind of Cookie Program incentives you'd like for the 2013 Cookie Program! The council's online recognition voting tool is live until July 1. Click here to vote. You can only vote once - so please choose carefully.

 Buy your tickets for the Rhapsody in Green gala by May 31 and save $25

Enjoy an evening of live music, dancing, a silent auction, food, open bar, and much more at the Rhapsody in Green Centennial Gala, on Saturday, June 23, from 8- 11 p.m. at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. Music is Gina Brown and Anutha Level, and mistress of ceremonies is Fox 8 News Anchor Nancy Parker. TIckets are $100 each with two tickets for $150 if purchased by May 31, two tickets for $175 after May 31. Call the Hilton at 504-584-3959 and ask for Girl Scouts Rhapsody in Green block for a discounted hotel room rate of $139.  Scouting for Supper at Chuck E. Cheese on July 19

chuck e cheeseOn Thursday, July 19, from 3 - 9 p.m., join us at one of six locations of Chuck E. Cheese, and 15 percent of all food, merchandise, and token sales will  be donated to the Girl Scouts! Just mention Girl Scouts Louisiana East while making your purchase. Tokens must be purchased at the counter in order for Girl Scouts to get credit. A flyer to receive 10 free tokens is available on the council website by clicking here.
