We want your favorite outdoor recipes for inclusion in the new edition of Pocket Stew. Click here for a fillable form and submit it no later than October 31, 2011.

Girl Scout councils across the United States have incorporated the Pocket Stew cookbook in outdoor trainings since the 75th Anniversary of Girl Scouting.  The original edition of Pocket Stew was written as a birthday gift to Girl Scouts, including cooking recipes and styles that have hailed back to Girl Scouts' earliest days.  It is a cookbook written by Girl Scouts for Girl Scouts.

Adult Learning summer sessions

Summer courses in Leadership Essentials, First Aid/CPR, Troop Camping, as well as the Facilitating Adult Learning are now listed on the website and open for online registration.

 

 
Program Pathways - Sponsorship deadline extended to July 29

Program Pathways (formerly Program Power)
is the annual program guide for Troop Leaders for 2011-2012, and is a great way to market your business or organization to over 23,000 members of Girl Scouts Louisiana East. In March, Girl Scouts is turning 100 years, so now's the perfect time to join us as a Program Pathways sponsor celebrating Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary!

Sponsorship Rates are as follows: Inside Front Cover: $750, Full Page: $500, 1/2 Page: $250, 1/4 Page: $125, 1/8 Page: $65.  Sponsors also get a free banner ad on the council website, as well as promotion through Facebook.

newsletter coverThe summer issue of GSLE Connections is in the mail today, but you can access the online version, now posted to our website.  Please email any spring/summer photos for the fall issue to [email protected] by August 12. We're especially interested in seeing photos of troop trips, and other activities in which your troop participated, as a result of your Cookie Sale proceeds.

We want to know....

...What activities your Girl Scouts are interested in! An  online "What Girls Want" interest survey is available on the council website.  Please take a minute to fill it out!   

 

...Your opinion of the current publications and communications methods we use with our members, alumnae, and donors. We ask that you complete this short online survey by August 15, 2011. Persons completing the survey will have their names entered in a drawing for a sampler pack of Girl Scout cookies (8 boxes). Names are optional, and will not be shared.

 Corks and Canvas' Painting with a Purpose on July 24

Moon over MurielsOn Sunday, July 24, from 3 - 6 p.m., join Girl Scouts for an evening of creativity and camaraderie at Corks and Canvas, 119 Focis St., in Metairie. They'll provide the paint, canvas, and brushes as participants will enjoy a fun evening with friends. At the end of the evening, you'll have a one-of-a-kind creation and, hopefully, a newfound talent you'll want to explore! This is not your average art class; this is art entertainment benefiting Girl Scouts Louisiana East. Corks and Canvas will donate 50 percent of all proceeds to the council. This event is open to the public with a maximum capacity of 51 persons. Children, under 21, are invited, but must be accompanied by a parent.  Register now by clicking here. 

 

Scouting for Supper at Chuck E. Cheese on July 21

On Thursday, July 21 from 3 - 9 p.m., join us at one of five locations of Chuck E. Cheese and 15 percent of all food, merchandise, and token sales will  be donated to the Girl Scouts! Just mention chuck e cheeseGirl Scouts Louisiana East while making your purchase. Tokens must be purchased at the counter in order for Girl Scouts to get credit. A flyer to receive 10 free tokens is available on the council website by clicking here.

 Let's kick-off Family Giving with food, fun, and prizes!

Join us for one of our 100th Anniversary Annual Family Giving Campaign kick-offs this July. We will provide pizza, drinks, and door prizes to some lucky participants. Kick-offs are set for Tuesday, July 19, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Council Headquarters in New Orleans, and Thursday, July 21, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Regional Service Center in Baton Rouge. This training is required for Service Unit Giving Captains and Service Unit Administrators. Please register for either kick-off online at www.gsle.org by July 13.
