Recognize our Outstanding Volunteers! | |
The nomination deadline has been extended to February 15 so you still have time to nominate that volunteer(s) who has gone above and beyond this year. Or perhaps there's a principal or religious leader who has bent over backwards to help a group of Girl Scouts. Let's make sure to recognize their hard work and dedication! 2) ASK store managers, pastors, school principals, etc... for their permission to hold a booth sale at their location. Use a Non-Council Sponsored Booth Sale Request Form to record the signature and approval of the business manager.
3) Next, submit your request on eBudde. Click the Booth Site tab. Click My Sales and enter location information.
4) Await the approval of your service unit booth coordinator before showing up to the booth sale.
(Please give your booth coordinator 48 hrs to review and respond to troop request)
5) Lastly, have a wonderful and safe booth sale.
For more information on eBudde and the Booth Scheduler please review the eBudde Booth Scheduler Manual.

| Send us your Healthy Living photos! |
Troops and service units, it's great hearing about all of the fantastic things you're doing to encourage girls to adopt healthy lifestyles, but we'd love to include some photos showing girls participating in any health-related program in the next newsletter. Any photos having to do with fitness, sports, nutrition, learning about healthy snacks, stress, self-esteem and body image, should be emailed along with a brief description of the activity to Marianne Addy at maddy@gsle.org. Thank you and keep up the great work! |
| 2011 GSUSA National Convention to be held in Houston, Novermber 10-13 |
The 2011 Girl Scouts National Council Session/52nd National Convention promises to be a historic event, as Girl Scouts launches a year long-celebration marking our 100th anniversary. Each council sends an adult delegation but adults can also attend as visitors. The council is considering getting a bus if there's enough interest from alumnae and volunteers. Please let us know of your interest by contacting Robin Guillmette at rguillmette@gsle.org.
The council delegate caucuses are scheduled for February 17 (evening) in both New Orleans and Baton Rouge. |
| GLOBE at Night Campaign, 2/21 - 3/6 |
Are you or your family or older troop interested in reclaiming the beauty of the night sky? The 2011 GLOBE at Night campaign, taking place from February 21 to March 6, is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the concepts of energy use and energy waste. To take part in GLOBE at Night, click on GLOBE at Night, and follow the instructions given on this website. The participant goes outside about one to two hours after sunset and finds the constellation Orion. Then she matches what is seen to one of the charts on the GLOBE at Night website, and reports the findings along with the coordinates of her location. The Library Information Service (225-231-3750) can translate house numbers to latitude and longitude if needed. The Highland Road Park Observatory will give a free GLOBE at Night presentation to adults and kids over 14 on Friday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. in which they will give detailed instructions on how to take part. |
