History of Mardi Gras Patch Program
 While it's true Mardi Gras isn't until March 8 this year, here in Louisiana we've already started celebrating the Carnival Season!  Girl Scouts Louisiana East developed a History of Mardi Gras Patch Program which is a hit with Girl Scouts everywhere!

It's All About Camp Marydale at our  Fundraising Luncheon March 3

Join us at the spring fundraising luncheon on Thursday, March 3, from 12 to 1 p.m. (meet and greet at 11:30 a.m.) at the Lod Cook Alumni Center on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.
Luncheon sponsors to date include Valero St. Charles Refinery, Capital One, and Little Brownie Bakers, however additional corporate sponsors and table captains (those who host a table of their friends) are needed. The actual luncheon is free to attend, with a suggested minium donation of $50.

Smart cookie patchAre you a Smart Cookie? The Girl Scout Cookie Sale begins Jan. 21, so it makes sense that January's Patch of the Month Puzzle is all about Girl Scout Cookies! Check it out at the Patch of the Month web page.

Domino's Pizza is partnering with Girl Scouts January 27 to raise some dough!

 

Scouting for SupperOrder pizza, sandwiches, or pasta dishes for lunch or dinner on Thursday, January 27 at any Domino's Pizza location in New Orleans, Northshore, Bayou and Baton Rouge, and 20 percent of your total purchase will be donated to the Girl Scouts Louisiana East. Thursday, February 24 is Girl Scout Day at Applebee's, another Scouting for Supper partnership. Dine at Applebees for lunch or dinner and 20 percent of your purchase will be donated to Girl Scouts. Be sure to bring in the required flyer in order for Girl Scouts to receive the donation.

 2011 GSUSA National Convention to be held in Houston

 

The 2011 Girl Scouts National Council Session/52nd National Convention promises to be a historic event, as Girl Scouts launches a year long-celebration marking our 100th anniversary.  Each council sends an adult delegation but adults can attend as visitors as well. The council is considering getting a bus if there's enough interest from alumnae and volunteers.  Please let us know of your interest by contacting Robin Guillmette at rguillmette@gsle.org.

The council delegate caucuses are scheduled for February 17 (evening) in both New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

 Disney on Ice presents Toy Story 3 in New Orleans and Baton Rouge

 

Have you heard the buzz? The toys are back in town!  Disney on Ice will be presenting Toy Story 3 in New Orleans (April 28-May 1), and in Baton Rouge (May 5-8).  Tickets are available for Girl Scout troops at $10.50 per ticket (10 ticket minimum).

One-day Girl Bullying Conference 

Girl Scouts Louisiana East will host "Girl Bullying: From Awareness to Action," a one-day conference for educators, parents, and community leaders on Saturday, March 26, at the New Orleans Marriott at the New Orleans Convention Center, thanks in part to funding from the Louisiana Children's Trust Fund. Experts in the field will be present topics on relational aggression and cyberbullying to provide assistance in dealing with female bullying in your troops, classrooms and family.
