Purchase a bench at Camp Whispering Pines
Girl Scouts Louisiana East is offering a unique opportunity to have a permanent part in the future of Girl Scouts by participating in "A Pathway into the Future" Bench Campaign. The purchase of a bench is a wonderful way to recognize and honor a current or former Girl Scout, Troops, Troop Leaders, Volunteers, Gold and/or Silver Awardees, or as a lasting memorial to someone special.

A 4x6 plaque of recognition will be permanently positioned on your bench. The new benches will be located around the singing circle located outside the dining hall, the theatre area, and the fire circles in the camping units.

There are only a limited number available, so purchase your bench today! Click here for the order form.
Girl Scouts recognize outstanding volunteers at Annual Meeting and Adult Recognition breakfast
WB volunteersApproximately 150 Girl Scout volunteers, staff, and guests were on hand to congratulate the 30 volunteers and one service unit receiving council-level recognitions at the council's 2010 Annual Meeting and Adult Recognition Breakfast held Saturday in Gonzales.  Thanks to everyone who came out to support your sister Girl Scouts! It was wonderful to hear Sally Bennett share her time as a Girl Scout when she received her 60 year volunteer pin and her 70 year membership pin! Congratulations to all of our award recipients! Click here to see the program with list of recipients.

A big thank you to all our volunteers. Volunteers are seldom paid, not because they are Worthless, but because they are Priceless... Don't forget, through April 30, Girl Scout volunteers within Girl Scouts Louisiana East may receive a discount at local retailers. Click here for more information.
Cookie results are in
Wow!  Girl Scouts in the GSLE council sold over 1,050,000 boxes of cookies this year!  A total of 168 girls will be entering the 2010 Cookie Hall of Fame on June 12, for selling 500 boxes of cookies and more.  Top seller was Baton Rouge Girl Scout Keyaira who sold 1,550 boxes of cookies.

Cookie recognitions should be getting distributed to girls now, and Cookie Dough will be mailed to girls within the next two weeks.
Has your troop re-registered for fall?

Re-reg packets where distributed at the April service unit meetings. If your troop was not represented or your service unit did not have a meeting in April; the leader/co-leader should contact their Membership Executive to obtain their packet. Re-reg packets are due in either office no later than Friday, June 4. Every girl that registers by June 4 will receive a patch at the re-reg event on July 10. The re-reg event is being held simultaneoulsy from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Camps Marydale and Whispering Pines.

Re-registering a troop by the June 4 deadline ensures a smooth continuation into the new membership year. Leaders will have one less task to accomplish when the troop resumes their meetings in the fall. The girls and their parents will know what troop they will bridge into if they are bridging to another age-level. Troops are always encouraged to participate in Council Product Sales and to re-register using troop funds.
Save the date for Chili's in June!

Make plans to go out to eat at Chili's for Girl Scouts Louisiana East Night! With each flyer presented on Monday, June 7, from 5 - 11 p.m., Chili's will donate 10% of the sales to the council. If you go with a group and ask for separate checks, you must present a flyer for each check, so make copies for everyone in your group.

Participating Restaurants include Metairie, West Bank, Slidell, Mandeville, Baton Rouge, Siegen Lane, Denham Springs, Gonzales, Millerville, Thibodaux, Hammond, Laplace, and Houma. Click here to print your flyer.
Breakfast with the CEO

Club 49 members, save the date for breakfast with Jackie Alexander, GSLE CEO!  A breakfast with the CEO has been set for Friday, May 21, from 9 - 10 a.m. in New Orleans at the Council Headquarters, and a second breakfast will be Friday, May 28, from 9 - 10 a.m. in Baton Rouge at the Regional Service Center. RSVP by May 10 by emailing Carrie Thomas, cthomas@gsle.org.
