Message from the Executive Director
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to our first Monterey Horse Park e-news. You are receiving this as you signed up on our web site at www.montereyhorsepark.org. Now that MHP is in the pre-construction phase (working with the County of Montery), we are anxious to be certain that the entire equestrian community has the opportunity to participate and support this once in a lifetime opportunity to preserve land for equestrian uses and to build an international center for competition, right here in California. We welcome all kinds of support (including financial) and all kinds of volunteers. Thanks in advance for your interest! anne warner cribbs, executive director and Olympian
Shovel in the Ground Campaign ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After many months of negotiation, in December 2005, the Monterey Horse Park signed an exclusive negotiating agreement with the County of Monterey, giving Monterey Horse Park the right to raise funds, conduct necessary environmental and engineering studies and work with the County on milestones necessary to achieve the transfer of land and begin construction on the designated 390-acre site at the former Fort Ord. In short, the County granted Monterey Horse Park, indeed the entire equestrian community, the right to proceed with the project, subject only to the successful funding and construction of the Horse Park. Our goal is to put a shovel in the ground and begin construction in January 2009. A capital campaign for Phase One construction will begin this winter - and will include an array of naming rights for Monterey Horse Park facilities.
Success at the Recent K2 Heights Benefit for MHP at Saturday Country Farm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With Sharon Moore leading the way, on September 22, a great group
showed up in partly rainy weather to enjoy a Tri Tip BBQ, a silent
auction and clinics by Dr. Erin Madern, discussing and demonstrating
Steinbeck Equine Clinic's Acupuncture Department and Cindi Elliot -
talking about Joe Elliot's Horse Balance Body Works. Sharon related,
"I'm so excited about the potential for Monterey Horse Park - we wanted
to do our part to help! Silent auction items included local wines, fruits and vegtables, cowboy prints, equine supplies - an entire list of fun and desirable items. MHP thanks Sharon and all who attended.....this is a great way for MHP to raise "friends and funds!"

Email info@montereyhorsepark.org for more details..and thanks in advance.
