Notes from the road - by Greg
CAASFEP Conference 2008: October 20-22,La Quinta, CA

"I would like to extend a special thanks to those who stopped by to see us at our booth during the Fall Professional Development Institute held by the California Association of Administrators of State and Federal Education Programs (CAASFEP). The three day conference focused on the challenges school systems face with meeting accountability requirements for NCLB. The administrators who talked to us at the conference discovered that TransACT is at the forefront of equipping districts and schools with legally-reviewed and professionally translated parent notices. I am proud to provide support for complex requirements in areas covered by NCLB such as Title I, Supplemental Services, Title III, Student Privacy Rights and many others."
-Greg Heaston

Employee Spotlight: Get to know the team behind the scenes!

Julianne Rah
Graphic Design / Production Specialist

How long have you been with TransACT?
I have been with TransACT since June 2008.

Please describe what you do: My job is to create graphics that explain TransACT products and services.

Birthplace: I was born in Seoul, Korea.
Birthday: May 10

College: I went to Maryland Institute College of Art, which is a small visual art school in Baltimore, MD. I received a BFA in Graphic Design.

What was your favorite subject in school?
During high school, philosophy was my favorite subject because I was always interested in analyzing human nature and knowledge. During college, conceptual art classes were my favorite because they challenged the way I looked at the world as an artist. They helped me to refine my thinking, communication and problem solving abilities.

What aspect of working at TransACT do you enjoy the most?
When I started high school, I just moved to the US. I was new to everything, and because I went to high school that subscribes to TransACT, it made the transition a little easier. I also saw how TransACT enabled schools to communicate with other students and their families as well. I enjoy working on projects knowing there are families out there who are benefiting from TransACT services.

When do you feel successful in life?
When my life is in perfect balance and people appreciate what I do for them.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy?
I often cook to relax. Cooking allows me to be creative without being so serious all the time. If people like what I cook, that makes me even happier. I also follow major league baseball very closely as I am a big baseball fan.

Whom do you admire most?
I admire Paul Rand because he was able to combine his unique sense of design aesthetic and problem solving ability to create design that never looked dated and was understood by many people.

If you were not at TransACT, what would be your dream job? In that case, I would love to be a chef or a makeup artist.
