Happenings: What's new at TransACT?
Around the nation: Will you be in Nashville this week?

Will you be attending the National Title I Conference in Nashville, Tennessee this week?

Please stop by the TransACT booth (#428) and say hello! We love every opportunity to talk to our customers in person. We'll be there to answer any questions you may have regarding your subscription, assist you in getting the most out of your TransACT Parent Notifications or hear suggestions you may have for improving our services.

This year, we are also offering an exciting promotion to our customers. Everyone who completes a short, two-question survey will be entered in a drawing to win an iPod shuffle. You may fill out the survey in person at our NASTID table or you may complete it online by clicking here. You do not need to attend the NASTID conference to be entered in the drawing.

Keeping up with mandates: How we keep you current

We are working hard to keep your parent notices current and updated with the latest education reform mandates. New documents, revisions and translations are posted in your collection every month. These collection revisions are completed at no cost to you. Our goal is to ensure that our parent notification collections accurately reflect requirements set forth by NCLB, IDEA 2004, OCR and by the U.S. Department of Education. Subscribers can be assured that TransACT closely monitors the changing landscape of federal programs and the impact on parents' right to know.

Collection changes are regularly posted in the breaking news section of our website. Check in often to see what's new for you. To learn more about the full line of TransACT parent notification collections, click here to view available free online demonstrations. Questions about document updates should be sent to TransACT Customer Care by e-mail (support@transact.com) or phone (425-977-2100).

Employee Spotlight
Monica_Munar
Monica Munar
Executive Director, Customer Operations

How long have you been with TransACT?
2 years

Please describe what you do:
In my role, I supervise all customer care, support and existing customer sales and marketing functions for the company. I also manage the eight statewide customers to assure best-practice implementation and training.

Birthplace:
Seattle, WA

Birthday:
October 24

College:
University of Washington
Bachelor of Arts, Global Studies

What was your favorite subject in school?
In high school it was definitely music.  I played the piano, trumpet and French horn.  In college, it was Art History and East Asian history.

What aspect of working at TransACT do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy onsite visits with our customers and any other opportunity to visit with them face-to-face, whether that is at a conference or onsite trainings that they requested.  Because so much of my day-to-day work is done over the phone in addition to working with my team, I like to get out of the office periodically to see what our customer world (environment) is like, while looking for ways to improve their overall experience.  Seeing the service in force in thousands of districts across the country and knowing what an impact that has on districts and families - nothing can really top that.

When do you feel successful in life?
I feel successful in life when I have a good work/home life balance.  It feels good to work hard and get the right results.  That is something that I apply to both my personal and professional life.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy?
I enjoy traveling, both locally and internationally.  Many of our statewide partners were in the loop on my most recent trip, a cruise through the Western Caribbean.   At home, I spend a lot of time with family.  In the winter, we frequent the family cabin to play in the snow. In the summer, the Pacific Northwest is sunny and warm. That's when we pack up the car and head out camping.

Whom do you admire most?

My dad, definitely.  He moved to Seattle from the Philippines when he was 18 years old and was able to put himself through school, support a family of 5, take us on annual family vacations, fund our education and (most recently) help fund my wedding!  The most important things I learned from him were to never settle and to make the smart decision.

If you did not work at TransACT, what would be your dream job?
My dream job would be a world traveling food critic!  That would be the best of both worlds - eating & traveling and telling people about it.
