| NCP Holiday Pot Luck | | |
On Monday, December 19th, LCDC hosted its final quarterly NCP meeting of the year. Attendees utilized the opportunity to reflect on the great things that happened in 2011 and what awesome progress they expect in 2012. A potluck dinner was served to celebrate the year end and holiday festivities. The NCP team is looking forward to a productive 2012!

| LCDC Hosts Pastor's Breakfast | | |
On Tuesday, December 13th, LCDC hosted a breakfast for North Lawndale Pastors. Over 20 pastors attended representing 15 churches in the community. Discussions included, Pastors partnering with block clubs to address beautification and safety and Prayer Around the Schools, an Initiative spear-headed by Pastor Fluker of All Nations Church. It's exciting to see what can happen when everyone comes together to work on community issues and concerns!

| LCDC Plans for Cornerstone Training Center | |  On December 14th Bill Strickland, President of the Manchester Bidwell Corporation spoke to community stakeholders, leaders and residents about plans to bring a job training program to North Lawndale. This unique program will provide opportunities for Westside residents to train for jobs that will provide them with a living wage. More information will be forthcoming about Cornerstone, Chicago Arts and Technology program in the coming weeks. Your support will be instrumental to ensuring its success! | Youth Leadership Training | | |
LCDC is partnering with several organizations to educate young people about public resources to address youth unemployment, ways to decrease violence and other issues relevant to youth. On December 12th, 20 students met at Homan Square's Robert Crown Center to discuss the federal budgeting process and plans to participate in the "If I Had a $Trillion" video contest. They shared their solutions to challenges in the community and by joining together will increase skills that will enable them to become better advocates for themselves.

Spring After School Matters Session Begins February 6th

The spring session of the After School Matters program will begin February 6th. The students will continue their work with the E-tech curriculum which teaches about entrepreneurship, small business management and how to build and network computers. | LCRS Now Accepting Applications for STELLA Building | | |
Lawndale Christian Residential Services (LCRS) is now accepting applications for the newly renovated STELLA building located at 1863 S. Lawndale. The rental units features 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and are scheduled to be completed by the end of January.

| Prayer Around the Schools | | |

Harmony Community Church hosted a pep rally to kick-off "Prayer Around the Schools" an event organized by Pastor Andre Fluker of All Nations Church. North Lawndale Pastors, parishioners and residents came together on Saturday, January 7th, at Penn Elementary School, focusing on prayer for students and their families. They will continue to meet the 1st Saturday of every month and everyone is welcome. Thanks to all who participated, we look forward to continued prayer for our schools!
