Greetings!
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.

| Pastor's Partnership Breakfast | |
 | |
Pastor Spencer of Christ Centered Ministries and Pastor Fluker of All Nations Church of God In Christ |
With almost 180 churches, North Lawndale has a history of depending on our Pastors to provide direction, community outreach, engagement and spiritual guidance. To support and encourage this relationship, LCDC will be hosting a Pastor's Breakfast on December 13th to strategize how pastors and their congregations can partner with organizations, block clubs and residents to create a better environment and support their community.
If you are interested in using your church to make a difference in North Lawndale, please contact Tracie Worthy or Tameeka Christian at 773-762-8889 and confirm your attendance. |
| Addressing Youth Unemployment | | |
North Lawndale has one of the highest rates of youth unemployment in the country. On November 2nd, Columbia Links hosted a Town Hall Meeting at Columbia College to discuss "Jobless Teens" along with State Representative Lashawn Ford who is working on policies to address this issue at the state level. Several agencies in North Lawndale have started collaborating to address the issue of unemployed youth and working to empower them to speak to elected officials, community and business leaders about solutions to address this challenging situation.
If you would like to get involved in this discussion and assist in the planning of a youth summit, please contact Tameeka Christian or Tracie Worthy at 773-762-8889. |
| Someone You Should Know | | With a beautiful smile and a positive voice, Shawndtrana Campbell, is someone you should know! A senior at Collins Academy and former After School Matters student, Shawndtrana is extremely motivated and committed to her community. After completing the After School Matters Program at LCDC this summer, she continued to volunteer in our offices and often attends meetings with our staff. She also volunteers at her school and participates in programs such as Y-MEN. As she enters adulthood, Shawndtrana is deciding if she wants to go away to college or join the military. Let's give kudos to Shawndtrana and youth who are committed to creating a better life for themselves and the community they live in! |
