Ireland
Some of you know that after our annual English Garden Tour I hopped to Ireland for a research trip. My journey started out with a flat tire about half an hour from the Shannon airport. An amazing tale of hospitality unfolded as a young man, his wife and baby, Oran, stopped to help me. This lad put the spare on while I negotiated with Hertz for assistance. It was Sunday and no roadside help was available. How did they get to be #1? I had miles to go and did not want to drive on the spare. After a long conversation and saying I would wait at the local pub until they either delivered a new car or found a new tire, Hertz finally came up with a garage about half hour away via really back roads that could put on a new tire. My kindhearted Irish friend led the way to the garage in the middle of County Clare. New tire on; he then led me another half hour in another direction to my B and B in Doolin on the coast of County Clare. What a beautiful beginning to my ongoing tales of Irish hospitality. How blessed I felt with the TLC showered upon me. At the inn, my host said, "you poor Ting" spoken in her heavy Irish accent. You need a Baileys and a rest. She promptly delivered the Baileys. I fell asleep for a nap. At 6 the music started in the infamous O'Connors Pub and I walked down the hill to enjoy the local colors.

California
I've often thought the ideal state would be Calichusetts; a total blend of the best of California and the roots of New England. For more than 25 years, I commuted between Boston and San Francisco and think both are two of the finest cities in America filled with culture, verve and energy. Our trip to California this fall will give you a glimpse into West Coast living sipping wine in Napa, walking a trail in Big Sur and soaking up the west coast culture everywhere. If you want to extend autumn a bit more, this trip will do just that with warm sunshine, crisp evenings and California Dreaming. Join us for the fun of it all. Perhaps you want a little California Dreaming added to your world.

Summer Breeze
The summer temperatures soared last week on the East coast and I was thinking of the cool salty breezes in Nova Scotia commonly occurring during the summertime. If you haven't yet discovered Nova Scotia, join us this summer for a week on the seacoast and a taste of this coastal Maritime province. From history to artisans, whales, and perhaps puffins, we will explore, discover and relish the peaceful pace of a world apart yet so close.

Airlines
The best seats are available when you book early. Last minute travelers get what is left. Now the airlines are charging more for those seats those of us in the know knew had a few more inches of legroom and space. When commuting between Boston and San Fran on United Airlines, it was row 9 I was looking for. Everything has changed and premium seats now cost more. Not to worry, an aisle seat anywhere can work fine unless you are used to flying First or Business class which some of our clients are. If you can plan ahead, it makes travel a bit easier and you will get the best routes, seats and details. If spontaneity is your approach to travel and you can adjust to what is offered, you will be glad to be traveling again. We accommodate last minute travelers and, while it works best to reserve ahead, if you find you can escape last minute then call us and we will do our best to help.

La Dolce Vita
In September, we will be in Italy and touring the Tuscan countryside. If you haven't yet reserved this trip, please do so now as I want to firm up our plans so we all can look forward to autumn in Tuscany and Venice. Italy is hard to put into words. One must experience La Dolce Vita first hand. Florence is one of the worlds most loved cities and it is easy to see why. The culture surrounds you and immerses you in the history of bygone days when Medici women strolled the cobbled streets. Wherever you turn, history is looking back at you. The region called Tuscany is a visual postcard. Wherever you look, there is yet another view of the countryside and peacefulness. Hill towns perched in the country are colorful and engaging and the pace is slower.
