Greetings,

Welcome to our loyal following of newsletter readers.  Whether you are dreaming or planning now to reserve one of our trips, I hope that this monthly read encourages you to travel well.  Inspired by Nellie Bly who started her tour around the world in 1889, I continue to research and plan our Serendipity Traveler jaunts.  Please share this newsletter with women who enjoy traveling as much as you do.  Thanks!

Off to England & The Chelsea Flower Show
Our England Garden tour departs in three weeks and I cannot wait to be in England when the gardens are glorious.  Each year I alter the experience a little and this year is no exception.  A friend of mine owned a lovely Georgian Manor house adjacent to Sissinghurst and ran a simple family bed and breakfast where I stayed while researching English Gardens before I launched Serendipity Traveler years ago.  The property is now owned by the National Trust and has recently reopened, totally refurbished and sparkling, for only a handful of guests.  We are staying there when touring the Southeast of England.  This is a rare opportunity and once word gets out reservations will be hard to come by.  I have already reserved for our May 2011 trip.

Our tours are distinctive and very much one of a kind.  If you missed our English Garden trip this year, I will be posting 2011 dates and taking reservations beginning in July.  Staying in places like Sissinghurst is one reason I keep our group size limited.  Not to mention dining at one of my favorites, Apicius in Cranbrook, where a table of 6 is the maximum for the Michelin starred chef and his wife.

Mothers & Daughters
Traveling together can be a heartfelt experience for mothers and daughters.  Choosing a trip that allows space and diverse options for quality times together creates a successful and memorable adventure.  Depending on the age of each woman, the trip can require certain thoughtful elements.  The energy levels of both women is one of the most important things to consider as well as early bird or night owl patterns.  Medical concerns, if appropriate, should be planned for.  It's best to know where the American hospital is in Paris as my dear friend learned when her mother needed medical attention. Thinking ahead to what each woman traveler enjoys and wants to happen will lead to a happier journey.  Anticipating the trip and chatting about the dreams is always a fun part of the experience.  After the trip, your memories linger and are shared forever.  Several of our trips are perfect for mothers and daughters.  They provide a blend of independence while also having friends in the group to enrich the time together.  We have had a number of mothers and daughters travel with us and it has been a pleasure.  We offer gift certificates for Mother's Day.  Surprise your mother or daughter with the gift of travel for memories of a lifetime.

Walking By The Sea
Four of our trips each year offer walks by the sea.  Dominica  in the midst of winter,

California in the spring, Nova Scotia  in the summer and New England in  autumn all take you to the sea. If you relish time by the sea like I do, any one of these trips offers you plenty of time to savour your moments on the coast.  Wandering, dreaming, and breathing the pure air, while listening to the sounds of the sea as varied as they are is renewing.  If you are inclined to like the sea, each one of the above trips will give you plenty of time to meander the shore.  Three of the trips include walks along lesser known coastal routes that are treasured locally kept gems.  My in depth knowledge on each of these locales leads us to pristine seashore locations where land and sea spectacularly merge amidst the waves.  Next trip is Walking in Nova Scotia.  I hope you will join us..

Tips on Food when Traveling
Apples, you find them in hotel lobbies around the world and for a good reason.  The old saying, An Apple a Day keeps the Doctor away has merit.  Take two.

Water,
water everywhere. Whether it is tap or bottled staying hydrated is the best thing you can do when traveling. The experts all agree on this one.

Vegetables
are often the least eaten food when traveling.  Experiment and try some new veggies or different ways to eat old favorites.  Who would have thought beet salads would be on menus?  Try fiddleheads in spring or a squash soufflé in winter.

Dining out is lots of fun on vacation.  When the Dessert menu comes, who doesn't want to try a new decadent dessert?  Trust me, I do.  Go ahead and indulge.  It is your holiday after all.  On the other nights, think sorbets and fresh fruits.  Munchies can hit anywhere and the hotel refrigerators are heavily stocked just for the occasion.  I suggest bringing some of your own Healthy granola bars or protein bars when a snack is needed or finding a nearby store and buying some healthful choices to bring back to the hotel.

Eating healthfully while traveling enhances your trip.  Please send me some of your favorite travel tips and I will share them in our next newsletter. pr@serendipitytraveler.com

Tea & Chocolate
I'm not sure whether it's sampling high tea at Browns in London or the chocolates from an artisan chocolatier in Paris that make our London and Paris trip so much fun.  Then, of course, there is The Thames and The Seine, the 6th arrondisement and Knighstbridge, The Louvre and The Victoria and Albert.  The splendid blend of the two cities with their distinctive cultures make this trip a joy.

Your reservations for London and Paris can be made easily online now.
