Greetings,

Welcome all to our monthly newsletter.
Spring arrived with fanfare in New England recently with temperatures soaring to the 70's.  Convertibles, shorts and ice cream were spotted everywhere.  Springtime is one of the spectacular wonders of living where four distinct seasons mark the calendar. Wherever you live there are wonders to celebrate.  I have always wanted to see the desert in spring bloom in the Southwest and the flow of icebergs in Canada's north eastern province of Newfoundland.  The world is brimming with wonders to discover.

Jane Austen
I just finished reading Sense and Sensibility for The Folly Cove Literature Series.  Led by the gracious Patricia Sutherland, we gather together for a soiree on Sunday afternoons at a lovely home overlooking Goose Cove.  Must admit, I had not read any Jane Austen since high school English classes.  After our literature workshop, we share wine and appetizers before dinner and reluctantly departing.  This series is well timed for my enrichment.  Our Jane Austen trip departs in September.  The next book we are reading is Pride and Prejudice which has been translated into thirty-five languages.  It was first published in 1813 when Jane was 37. I am now more than ever eager to see the simple writing desk at the house in Chawton where Jane penned most of her works.

Dominica
Some of you know I just returned from our 4th  Dominica winter trip and I could write volumes about the adventure.  If you haven't joined us yet, our 5th annual trip is on the calendar for next winter.  Dominica is rare and a place apart from typical Caribbean islands.  Lots of press is happening as the word has been trickling out about this island gem.  Coastal Living and other leading magazines continue to highlight the island and the airport has been renovated with a longer runway and is getting lights for night flights; all signs of tourism and growth.  Dominica is still untamed and pristine.  We support a local community project called The House of Hope; a grass roots effort begun 4 years ago to care for children and a moving story to the spirit of community. There are now 5 residents lovingly cared for in a newly built 12 room building.  Funds are still needed for basic operating expenses. There is no fluff in this project for certain.  My present goal is to add some artworks to the buildings bare white walls, some mobiles to each room, and some colorful stimulation to the living environment.

Summer in Canada
With spring here, summer can't be far off and, while I like to live in the present moment, I must fast forward here to share with you summer in Nova Scotia.  Walking in Nova Scotia takes you to my summer backyard and offers an insider's perspective to the Maritime Province of Nova Scotia and her charms.  We ramble the Maritime coast from Halifax to Lunenburg and across the valley to the Land of Evangeline on this week of exploring.  Of course, we visit Peggy's Cove and other well known landmarks; together with tucking into places that only the locals know.  While spending the evening with locals at a Celidih in Lunenburg, one woman commented, "I think we are the only tourists here."  You will be glad we intimately know the region as most who travel to the provinces try to see it all and their travels become one long marathon road trip.  Our expertise affords you a relaxed pace offering salty summer memories.

London & Paris
Two of the worlds best loved cities in one grand trip.  We start in London and midweek travel via Eurostar to Paris.  The euro is at the lowest point in a long time and we are taking advantage of this to add an extra night in Paris to sample more of the charms of the 6th Arrondissement where we stay.  The 6th is where Parisians like to live and where visitors like to linger.  The area is made up of a trio of locales.  The Latin Quarter which comes alive each evening, the Luxembourg Gardens is meant for sitting and enjoying a peaceful respite, and the village of St. Germain-des-Pres with museums, café's and churches is a delightful area to wander.  One of my favorite churches to visit is St. Sulpice.  There are enchanting cafes in St. Germain des Pre like Café Bonaparte which is a wonderful place to stop in after walking the charming streets of rue Buci, rue St Andres des Art or rue Jacob.

Coastal Living
The village of Rockport is featured in the April issue of Coastal Living and I am sending copies of the magazine to the women who traveled with me last year on our autumn trip.  Our Autumn in New England trip concludes with two nights in Rockport where we stay at the Seven South St. Inn.  You will even meet Kenny Porter, the lobsterman featured in the Coastal Living photo, visit the Art Association and more as we explore this gem on the Atlantic Coast.  The village is small and very walkable.  The lobster is fresh and the walks at Halibut Point is stunning.  What a perfect ending to your week in New England at prime foliage season.  No other tour offers you the authenticity of Boston, Vermont and the Atlantic Coast.  Authenticity is the integral ingredient in all of our trips and Rockport, Boston, Grafton, Vermont all offer you a selective New England experience in the city, the country and on the coast; a quintessential trio carefully chosen for your pleasure.
