Greetings,

Thanks to all new readers and fans!  Each month, when I sit down to draft the newsletter, I think of all the names on our list and wonder what your travel dreams are.  Where you will travel in 2010?  It seems our website does a stellar job of sorting the women who would like to travel with us and who are kindred spirits.  No matter what the trip, all the women who have taken a Serendipity Traveler trip have been a true pleasure to get to know.  Take a minute now to reserve your trip.  You will be glad for the memories you return home with to sustain you.

Blossoms
On an artic winter day in Boston, a trip to the Margaret C. Ferguson green houses at Wellesley College is indeed one of life's little luxuries.  My husband and I have made this annual outing for the last few years.  This year, I named the day waiting for Dominica.  Our Dominica adventure leaves this Friday and I am so excited.  We will see lots of wild ginger, hibiscus, birds of paradise, and anthuriums growing wild.  The native guides teach us about the native plants and herbs.  Joanne, who is in the kitchen, shares her Caribbean cooking secrets and we hike, snorkel and enjoy the spa.  At the green house, I was happily satisfied with a seductive wall of cascading bouganvilla.  The greenhouses are arranged with various climates and the desert was 40 degrees as the plants were resting.  Perhaps that is one of winter's lessons that we all need time to rest, to restore our energies in order to bloom.  Dominica is one of those trips where you can do as much or as little as you want.  If you missed this year and want to plan ahead, our 5th annual winter trip to Dominica will be posted when I return.  The lodge we perch at is featured in the current issue of Coastal Living.

Lotions and Potions
A client wrote asking how to pack her lotions and potions and still be able to carry on her luggage.  Simply purchase a variety of 3oz. containers and transfer from your larger bottles.  It is amazing how much less we need. For me, with shorter hair, 3oz of my favorite shampoo lasts 10 days.  Squeeze toothpaste into the little round containers that come in the pack.  Take an extra container of your favorite lotion.  Then place all of those in a ziplock bag.  I put them in my pocketbook and then pull them out to give to security when I place my bags on the beltway.  This approach sends a strong message, that I know the rules and am following them. Easy!!  I did set all the bells and whistles off in London one time though when I totally forgot I packed a new stainless steel gardening trowel in my suitcase which I was carrying on. For the life of me, I couldn't understand what the commotion was.  Certain that there was nothing in the suitcase to set off alarms, I was surprised when they held up the trowel and we all laughed. Kindly, they found a box for me, and sent it along. I think our approach makes all the difference.

Summer in Wyoming
I really enjoy our Best of The Grand Tetons trip.  Actually, there isn't a trip that we offer that I don't thoroughly enjoy.  Each trip is so diverse, the women are always wonderful, and I have loads of fun with what is also called work.  Someone has to do this and I am the fortunate person who loves to travel and share hospitality with others.  We perch mountain side in Jackson Hole at Teton Village for this week.  Lots of trails to walk and abundant spectacular wildlife to enjoy.  Gallery hopping and, of course, a Western BBQ add to the fun.  This is a trip for outdoor enthusiasts.  You can find trails suited for all levels and if you are an average walker our pace will please you.  The extraordinary wildlife in the region and the knowledge of the park rangers add to our experiences.

It is really something to see Bison, Moose, and Pronghorns so near.  Dust off your cowgirl boots and join us for a Wild West adventure this summer in Wyoming.

Jane Austen's England
The itinerary is complete. I am off to Dominica and when I return Peter, our awesome webmaster, will calendar this journey online.  For your planning, the dates are September 13-20th.   We begin in London, travel to Chawton, where much of Jane's writing happened, and then onward to Bath in time for the 10th Annual Jane Austen Festival.  Tea rooms, gardens, museums, history, a full day in the lower Cotswolds and visit to Castle Coombe the prettiest village in all of England, walking tours, pubs, and England's essence. Details on web March 8th.
London & Paris
Please note we have changed the date on our London and Paris trip.  The new dates may work even better for you as the trip begins over Labor Day weekend.  We will depart Saturday, September 4th for this 8 day luxe journey visiting two of the world's favorite cities.  Plan now to come along on our adventure across the pond.  Sip wine in Paris, tea in London and gather a pocketful of experiences.
