Greetings, Some of you who read our newsletter each month I know quite well, others a little and most I haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting. We share a passion for travel and for living the creative life, whatever that means to each of us. Hopefully as you read our newsletter each month you sense the commitment I have to making each trip the best!

The R Words
Continuing my thoughts on R words this year... Recession is in the news and doom and gloom is everywhere. Actually, this can be a time for living richly and redefining our concepts of rich. Beginning each day knowing your life is filled with abundance is just the beginning. Perhaps the more we learn of the fragility of life, the greater will be our sense of what truly matters. Living life for the experiences that bless us daily, some ordinary and others extraordinary, creates the interweaving of our world with surprise, joy, challenge and inspiration. Living richly for me means walking the beach, spending quality time with those I love and cherish, seeing a sunset and trusting that all shall be well in my world. Living richly includes traveling to learn about myself and to experience the smells, tastes, music, culture and life in new places. Exploring my passions and living with a sense of service to others is, for me, the essence of a rich life. Perhaps the recession will help all of us refocus our days towards a life that is balanced and towards treasures that are infinitely more precious than gold.

Details Last month, I listed some of our most FAQ and frankly have to admit my response on the age of travelers was metaphorical. I state the age of our travelers is 21-101. Well, truth be told, we haven't had anyone 21 or 101 travel with us. To clarify, most of our travelers are 45-75 and are active, interesting and wonderful women.

I started working on this trip on my first trip to Paris many moons ago. Last summer, I decided to offer Paris with London but managed to get sidetracked when the Euro and the Pound were just so outrageous to work with. Now, with the British Pound the lowest in 7 years and the Euro more favorable as well, we are posting this trip for a Labor Day weekend departure. We will sample the best of both cities arriving in London. We will take the Eurostar mid week to Paris and flying home from France. If you have been yearning to go to Europe, now is the time! You can begin to dream of places like "Chez Dumonet" (117 rue du Cherche-Midi), in the 6th. It's a place where they do an anthology of classical French bistro dishes in a beautiful setting -- a sepia-toned restaurant where you walk in, sit down, and say, "All is well with the world." Our Paris and London itinerary is almost ready for the website. Lots of minute details. The details include 3 nights fine accommodations in Paris, all continental breakfasts, two lunches, sipping Champagne on the Seine River trip, two day Paris museum passes, guided walking tour of Paris, visits to Saint Sulpice, Notre Dame, the Louvre, Luxembourg Gardens and the delightful arrondisements and lesser known gems that comprise Paris. In London, we perch in Knightsbridge at a luxury small hotel for 3 nights and are only a short walk to shopping at Harrods in one direction and the renowned Victoria and Albert Museum in the other. We will walk and walk in both cities. During our stay in London, we will take Tea at the Ritz, enjoy a concert at Westminster, attend the theatre and relish an optional full day excursion out of the city to the quintessential idyllic English villages in the rambling Cotswolds. This trip highlights the best of two cities and is a true sampler, giving you a taste of the culture and essence of both London and Paris. Our traditional gathering and farewell dinners are included along with our usual walking tours of both cities. Book your air into London Heathrow and back from Charles DeGaulle. Presently, fares from Boston to London and Paris to Boston are under $900.00 departing Sept. 5 and returning the 12th. Check the website next week for more details!

An Artic Journey Anyone?
I just returned from the round of travel shows that occur this time of year and a Canadian firm that I am seriously interested in doing business with has offered me a two for one special on their 2009 Artic Cruise Journey. This will be a spectacular experience. On this trip, I will be doing the research, review, and the critique necessary to decide if I want to offer an Artic trip in the summer of 2010 to our travelers. Someone has to do this adventuresome work to be assured that your Serendipity Traveler trips will be the best ever experience. If the adventure, mystery and wonder of a trip on an expedition vessel to the Artic appeals to you, call me at 978 879-7464 ASAP for the details and dates (mid August). Approximate price is $ 2895.00 USD shared and I can take just one traveler with me. Airfare is additional. This is an awesome opportunity! |
Inspiration
One of my favorite books is, The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The Prince is asking the geographer, "What place would you advise me to visit now?" He was told, "The Planet Earth. It has a good reputation."
