Greetings, Welcome to our new subscribers and loyal monthly readers. We are planning shorter and longer trips in 2009 adding some new destinations and, of course, keeping our perennial favorites. Please take some time with a cup of tea, a glass of wine or hot chocolate to dream a bit. Let your imagination flow. Think of the places you want to experience before you die! You may be surprised that some destinations may be just around the corner while others will take you around the world to places heard or read about or studied but not yet experienced first hand. Your hobbies and passions will perhaps lead you on. Childhood dreams may enter in. Who knows how you will choose. Look at the world as your personal passport to discovering more of yourself!

The R Words
While January is almost over, the Resolution word lingers. Thinking about the sterness of the word resolve, I daydreamed about a bunch of other R words that may enhance our lives. Reservations, of course, is the first word to suggest with the hope that you will make your reservations for travel and continue your exploration of all the world has to offer. Other R words that may enrich us all as we weave them into our days that came to mind are: Renew, refresh, readjust, regain, restore, revive, rejoice, reinvent, replay, rework, redo, recreate, real, rekindle, renovate, relish, reawaken, reinvigorate, reshape, replenish, relief, restful, resounding, recreation, redirect, rethink and rediscover. Whatever words and thoughts lead your spirit onwards as the days unfold, we wish you happy wandering this year. You deserve it.

FAQ It has been a while since the FAQ's have been mentioned.
What age are the travelers? We encourage women of all ages to travel with us. The spirit is ageless! When a trip will require above average physical activity, we will state that. If you have any medical problems that may limit your travel, please check with your physician for assessment. Most trips will require lots of walking. The ages in our groups will range from 21-101!
Is this a lesbian travel company? No, we are not a lesbian travel company. All are welcome to travel with us.
What to Bring? Travel light. We always pack more than needed. Remember comfortable walking shoes. For our garden tours, shoes that don't mind water are great. For tropical trips, less is more. A travel umbrella with a lightweight raincoat is always a good idea. Look at the itinerary and then pack accordingly for the various experiences on the trip.
Can I stay longer or arrive earlier? Yes, please contact us. We can arrange the necessary details on most itineraries.
Do I need additional money? Most expenses are included in the cost of the trip. When on your own, you will need money for some lunches, dinners, shopping, additional spa services, alcohol, laundry, telephone, and custom fees as appropriate. ATM machines are readily available and are the easiest way for you to access funds as needed. Upon arrival at the local airport, the first stop can be to the ATM machine. It is best to have a MasterCard or Visa with you. Often times American Express is not accepted and they charge an additional fee for overseas transactions.
Do I need insurance? Insurance is recommended. We do not sell insurance and refer you to Travel Guard.
Do I pay extra for traveling alone? No, it doesn't cost more to travel alone with us. We will match you with a roommate and you will not need to pay any additional for traveling solo unless you prefer private accommodations. Many of our travelers do enjoy a private room when traveling.
Do you organize custom tours? Yes, we are happy to arrange specific trips for women's groups, book clubs, garden clubs, mothers and daughters, friends, sisters, and women's corporate retreats. We craft each journey with keen attention to details and your wishes for personalizing the trip.

Everyday, travel offers arrive in my mailbox from around the world. While I do all of our resourcing and do not hire tour companies, the information inspires me to look further into a destination. Choosing where to go is a fun part of my job. When to go always depends on climate, events, and the very best time to be in the destination. The focus of our trips tend to reflect collective dreams and include gardening, walking, blissful landscapes, quaint villages, cultural experiences, nature, islands, hidden gems wherever we may go. Here is a sampling of what I am presently working on that will emerge on the website eventually... Morocco...London and Paris... Sedona ... Northern Italy... Christmas Markets in Europe... Let me know where you want to go at info@serendipitytraveler.com. Stay tuned, check in and join us for your escape!

England and The Chelsea Flower Show
Our English Garden Trip is a favorite for certain, and one that we offer annually every May. This trip is coordinated with the Royal Horticultural Society's stunning Chelsea Flower Show. While English gardens are the focus, we attend the theatre in London, visit Castles in Kent and sample the English village life with walking tours and of course tea! Last year, I had a client from Chicago sincerely ask if much would be in bloom in May. While seasons are ever changing, we found England in full bloom last May even the early roses were beginning which surprised everyone. Last May in England was warmer and drier than usual. One cannot predict English weather, so always pack a brollie for this trip and some shoes for tramping the colorful garden paths. One of our clients took lots of photos and we recently met for tea to reminisce. Your travel memories become a part of you and continue the journey.

Inspiration
Just finished another rereading of the classic book by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, "Gift from the Sea", a timeless tale of a women's spiritual journey. The quote that follows struck me as perfect to leave you with.
"My passport photo is one of the most remarkable photographs I have ever seen - no retouching, no shadows, no flattery... just stark me." - A. M. Lindbergh
