Greetings,
Welcome to our new readers.  Serendipity Travelers are spirited women who want to travel with the camaraderie of other women rather than travel alone.  They are single, married, divorced or recently widowed creating a likeable mix.  It is not about your age or whether you are married or divorced; it is about your spirit of adventure for living well!

I want to finish the 2008 newsletters by expressing appreciation to the women who have traveled with us and those planning and dreaming of an upcoming trip.  I look forward to meeting more of you in 2009 as we travel together.

Beauty
Beauty is an integral ingredient of each Serendipity Traveler trip.  Whether we are by the sea, in the mountains, walking in gardens or meandering through new landscapes, our trips to take us to places of beauty where we will be inspired and where we can immerse ourselves in the wonder of it all!   Who cannot be enriched while walking through the  lanes of Tuscany or seeing the Big Sur coast in California or experiencing the passion for gardening in all of  England or the sense of American history in Boston?  Not to mention infamous Mike's Pastries in the North End!

You can count on our trips reaching out to encompass the beauty of each place in the landscapes and the people.  Each of us we will look through our own lens forging our distinct and unforgettable memories.  Together we laugh, walk, talk, eat desserts first, tour, and shop.  In so doing, we nourish ourselves, our families, and those we meet along the journey.

Aloha Winter Break
This is our first of perhaps a few more FLITTERS, which I define as an unadvertised, spontaneous trip for those who can cast away responsibilities and flitter to a new place with short notice.  You know you need to do this if you haven't traveled in the last year or two or three.  This allows me the spontaneity to say yes to one of the hundreds of  diverse travel destinations that flood my inbox daily from around the world.  For our first FLITTER, we depart for Maui on January 24 and return on February 2.  Reservations must be made by December 28, 2008 and can only be made by calling us directly as this trip is not posted on our website and our reservation system will not handle Aloha reservations.  All other reservations for 2009, of course, will fly through the res system fine!  Our online res system is easy, and straightforward.  If you can travel with us to Maui, call me at 800 975 2357 or 978 879 7464 and you will send your deposit and payments directly to our office in Rockport, Mass.  I look forward to sharing the spirit of Aloha with a few of you.

Gifts
The Best of Women's Travel Writing 2008 is a delightful read.  A collection of known and little known women travel writers share their tales of colorful adventures around the world.  Our daughter, Kira Coonley, is included in the 2008 collection with her tale of  life in Thailand.

Heifer is an organization we support that sends goats, ducks, rabbits, cows, etc. around the world.  Heifer is an amazing organization and one of the top ten in the world for financial accountability.  Recipients of the livestock are trained and promise to pass on the offspring to another family in need.  You can give a gift of chicks, or a water buffalo to your best friend and know you are making a difference.  Details are at www.heifer.org

Time  A precious gift is the gift of time for those you love. Whether it is time for tea, time for a walk together or time for taking a trip; time shared is a gift from the heart.

Travel   Surprise someone you love with our Serendipity Traveler Gift Certificate.  A gift of travel will enrich and enhance someone's life.  Time shared traveling creates a kaleidoscope of fun for sisters, friends, mothers and daughters, aunts, and cousins.
La Dolce Vita
Please join us on this pleasurable 10 day Italy sampler to experience the essence of artful Italy!  May 23-June 2, 2009.  Details will be coming in our January newsletter.

Joy to the World
December, more than most months, is the time of the year that Joy is proclaimed from the voices of angels, with the peeling of bells, on the faces of children, in the flicker of candles and with the prayers of the saints and the common people.  Much of the world will not hear the bells or sleep warm or eat around the overflowing holiday table or unwrap even one gift.  Much of the world is hurting, orphaned, hungry, homeless and war torn.  May we who are able, with our resources of thoughts, words and deeds, proclaim Joy to the World wherever we may be and wherever we may travel.

Life is Short Travel Well!
