Greetings,
Welcome to each of you and thanks for your ongoing interest in our company.  As summer days unfold, I hope you are relishing each one.  Traveling with other women offers independence while enjoying the camaraderie of a group , sparkling conversations and connections that oftentimes continue long after we all have said goodbye.  Travel and independence synergistically work to strengthen, enliven and nurture us.  Celebrate your independence each day, reflecting on the woman you are and celebrating the woman you are becoming.  Flirt with life and dare to see where life leads you.

Why We Travel
Thoughts on the reasons women like to travel - to explore other cultures, to do nothing, to see the world, to snorkel, to heal, to walk in beautiful places, to experience fresh perspectives, to visit gardens, to take a yoga workshop, to reconnect with themselves, to write, to learn, to escape, to change, to be pampered, to grow, to enrich their life, to paint, to savour the sunrise and sunsets around the world, just for the fun of it.  Travel offers us the pleasure of making memories that last long after we return home to the familiar.  I hope you find a reason for traveling and join us for a week of blissful retreat or cultural experiences or whatever it may be that you wish for......

Walking in Atlantic Canada
While you are reading this newsletter, I am in Nova Scotia.  I just returned from Blomidon and the pristine Fundy Shore with russet cliffs and beaches enhancing the rolling farmlands, breathtaking scenery, unspoiled country side and the highest tides in the world.  This part of the world offers the chance to explore and discover the wonders   of the great outdoors.  Everywhere we go we are by the sea enjoying walks on pristine beaches, meandering amongst historical homes and villages, sleeping in delightful historic landmark bed and breakfasts, feasting on the local chef's offerings in small cafes serving the freshest of local foods from nearby gardens - summertime at its best.  Shortly, I will post the dates for summer 2009.  If you missed this trip, perhaps you will join us next year for a walking in Nova Scotia adventure.  If anyone is a kayaker, we can get you kayaking in some splendid waters here as well.

Yoga and Adventures in Dominica
In the midst of summer, it may be early to think of chilly days and the delight of the perpetual Caribbean sunshine, a peaceful island to unwind, do nothing, reconnect with time, days to pamper yourself.  Our November trip to Dominica is for the adventuress who wants to hike her most challenging hike to the infamous Boiling Lake or the diva wanting a retreat and gentle environs to replenish her sparkling spirit.  Your days will be pure tropical bliss. Our accommodations are at a eco lodge that has been hailed as "rustic luxe" by Conde Naste Traveler.  I like comfort and am less of one to rough it so the hillside cottages perched on the edge of the sea are delightfully comfortable.  Yoga is offered each morning overlooking the sea and walks and hikes are offered daily with excellent native guides.  A trip to a mineral spa, tropical waterfalls, and the market town are also included.  Rejuvenate with daily spa treatments which we include during your weeklong pampering and playing on Dominica.  Dates posted are flexible as we are coming and going a few days earlier and later etc. Call me for specifics before booking your air please.

Pack your Bags and Fly
In one of our last newsletters, I encouraged packing light and only taking what you can carry on.  Since then, almost every US airline has introduced the checked bag fee ranging from $15-25.00 per checked bag.  I am still saying pack light.  In the age of travel when steamer trunks were the order of the day, folks traveled for longer and clothes were fussier.  When you are on vacation for a week or two you can make it work just fine with one piece of carryon.  Use the local dry cleaner or laundry if need be.  Rinsing out a few things in your hotel room works too and the classic advice to mix, match and accessorize makes it all doable.  One world traveler I know advises me to lay out everything a few days before you depart and pack half of it.  Must admit, I am packing lighter but haven't quite packed half just yet.  Perhaps next trip.

Summer Reading
The Best Women's Travel Writing 2008 True Stories from Around the World is a great summer treat.  Some of you know our daughter Kira has a tale of her life in Thailand included in this 2008 collection.  Women who have read the book have told me they thoroughly enjoyed the diversity and spirit of each individual story.
