Annual
EnglandWe just returned from our delightful week in England with a wonderful group of like minded, active and interesting women.  We laughed, talked, walked, ate, celebrated life and visited glorious gardens and the Chelsea Flower Show all in a splendid week of pure English sunshine.  We took tea at the Ritz, enjoyed Gone with the Wind in London,   learned about Vita Sackville's' life at Sissinghurst, and were graciously hosted in Kent sharing an authentic Kentish tea provided by Jan Summers after touring local private gardens near the village.  The week passed all too quickly, ending with plans to travel again together and to stay in touch.

Women traveled together from Colorado, Massachusetts, Illinois and Virginia.  Some of us were keen gardeners and others just love England and all things English.  I have posted the dates of our 2009 English Gardens trip which brings me to the annual part.  Our English Garden trip is an annual offering every May.  The dates for England 2009 are May 16-23, 2009.  The gardens are in beautiful bloom and the pastoral landscapes are peaceful and inspiring. Hope some of you come with us next May.

La Dolce Vita
BellagioMust confess, I left England and traveled to Italy for another week working on our 2009 Italy offerings.  It was hard but someone has to do it - all for the sake of your future travels with Serendipity Traveler being the best.  I was solidifying a new itinerary for gardens in Italy and managed to map out a wonderful trip to include villages on Lake Como near the Swiss border. Totally magnifico!  While in Florence, I relaxed on the roof top deck of where we stay, enjoying the essence of the Florence rooftops, majesty of the Duomo and the diverse aged landmarks that create this historical city.  Driving on the autostrada  north to Lake Como, 130 kmph was a slow speed as the Alfa Romeos, Mercedes and others whizzed by.  We will visit exquisite garden villas in villages perched on the edge of the lake.  Details Details and more Details.  This is all part of my work - carefully editing the offerings in each place to choose wisely how and where we will spend our days and to set a pace that is comfortably enriching without creating a blur.  The Tuscany and Gardens of Italy itinerary for 2009 will be posted later this summer.  I am working hard to manage the euro so we all can visit Italy and experience the charms, art, culture and La Dolce Vita.  If you can't wait until 2009,  take our trip to Tuscany this autumn which spends time in Florence and the charming medieval hill towns south in Tuscany.

Serendipity Traveler Style
Casual, fun, adventuresome, curious, authentic, cultural, and luxe.  These words help to describe our style of travel.  Last newsletter, I talked about accommodations and now I want to attempt to convey the spirit with which we travel - open to exploring, turning left instead of right, not always following a map.  If you go to our details page on the website, you can learn more about our style.  We are a small company that offers you exceptional value, customized itineraries and enriching experiences.  As one client told me  recently, your trips are revivifying......!  I like that word......

Boston Weekend
New EnglandWe have added an option to our Boston Weekend in September.  On Sunday, we leave Boston and travel north through Essex County to the coast and end with dinner in Rockport before returning to Boston that evening.  If you would like to stay in one of our charming Rockport inns Sunday and add on Monday evening , that is the option we are offering. We will get you to the airport on Monday or Tuesday.  For those wanting to return to Boston as planned, we will accommodate your wishes as planned..  We are always ready to do great things for our clients and flexible enough to make it all work well. Thanks to a client from Virginia who is coming and wanted to spend time in by
the sea. Call us for details on the Rockport option.

Boston Weekend Sept 5 - 8, 2008

Traveler Tip
I think it is best to travel light enough that you can carry on your luggage. Hearing several recent stories of lost luggage it seems wise to keep it simple and take less. To make travel easier, when
possible get on a non stop flight to your destination. Of course that isn't always possible, however do try to  minimize your connecting flights when available. We do not include airfare on our trips and I often times help travelers who need assistance with flight details.

Inspiration
InspirationSummer....three entire months in the Northeast when the sun is warmer, the grass is greener and the sky is painterly azure blue.  For me, it is time for puttering in the garden, kayaking, and simply being outdoors as much time as possible. Gazing at a canopy of stars and perhaps catching a falling star to keep for the days when life is challenging - building a fairy house with my Granddaughter, walking down a country lane with my husband and sipping lemonade on our porch with a dear friend.  Summer offers the dance of dragonflies and butterflies and the whisper of hummingbirds.  The bird songs teach us about intricate communication patterns from one to another - the importance of steady and effective communication.  A mother osprey warns of an impending threat with a certain call - Amazing!  A seed started in the spring and blooming in summer teaches us how everything grows with love, nurture and patience.  This summer, take time to reconnect with the people you love, plan to travel this year to places that inspire you and let yourself dream, for it is the dreamer who sees the stars on the darkest of nights, who lights a candle to find her way, and who perseveres through hard times knowing that "All Shall Be Well" as the medieval Englishwoman Julian of Norwich reminds us. I wish for you the best of summer and her glories.
