Greetings,
Each month when I sit down to write the newsletter it seems I am writing a note to a friend.  Welcome to each of you who have just started receiving our newsletter. Traveling is a healthful way to enrich our lives and support our total wellbeing.

Cottages & Castles
lilacApril is the time of year in the Northeast when the daffodils begin their bloom and I dream of opening our cottage in the north.  The fresh spring breezes blow the winter winds away.  Daffodils naturalized in the meadow bend in the breeze while the wildflower garden begins growing.  As for castles, I am working on a tour  to follow our 2009 English gardens trip.  Women who can travel a bit longer will enjoy   two weeks interspersed with gardens, castles, and walking in May 2009.

More Frequently Asked Questions
Do most women travel alone or come with a friend?
Most women who travel with us do come on their own.

What is the age of the women who travel?
The spirit is ageless...our travelers are ages 30-83!  Most important is a positive and curious attitude - people who like people.

Do I need a passport to travel with you?
For all trips, except within the USA, you now need a passport if you are flying in and out of the country .

Are there guides for each trip?
Yes, we hire caring and thoughtful expert local guides. I travel with each group as well to assure all details are handled.

I like to shop.  Are there times for that?
Certainly.  Although shopping is not a focus, we all tend to like to browse and shop while traveling. There is plenty of time for wandering on your own.

Is there a lot of walking?
Some trips have more walking than others and that would be noted.  Generally, if you are active and in good health you will be fine.  Call me if you aren't quite sure.

I prefer a single room.  Are they available?
Yes, you can have a private room or share a double accommodation.

What is a Bliss Break?
For me, it means taking time for your renewal, experiencing nature, playing, going somewhere close or far away and transporting yourself for a moment in time to enrich your life and soak in the wonder and sacredness of life.  At Serendipity Traveler, we experience bliss breaks wherever we go.  Bliss, as defined by Webster's, - "a feeling or state of well being and contentment..." Each of us will define bliss differently... however, if you are looking for a Bliss Break, call us 1-800-975-2357 to reserve one of our upcoming trips.

Atlantic Canada in July
The Serendipity Traveler jaunt through Nova Scotia in July is a Maritime delight.  A leisurely week brimming with salty memories, walks by the sea, history, Celtic music and the warmth of the Maritime people create a lovely week of meandering.  We spend time on the South Shore of Nova Scotia and on beautiful Prince Edward Island, the land of Anne of Green Gables, with sand dunes and breathtaking scenery. We are taking reservations now for the July trip to Nova Scotia.

On March 30, the so-called open-skies agreement went into effect, allowing airlines based in the USA and Europe to fly across the Atlantic between any two airports in each region.  Before the pact, trans-Atlantic flights were governed by separate agreements between the United States and individual European nations.  The pacts required airlines to take off or land in their native countries and limited which airlines could serve certain airports.

When the open-skies agreement kicks in , restrictions will be lifted, essentially letting the open market dictate all trans-Atlantic routes between the United States and Europe.  What a boon for those of us who like to travel. Exciting!

Earth Day April 22
When we travel, we are keenly aware of using the earth's resources and attempt to support companies whose policies lean towards green!  This does not mean a compromise in luxury or quality; rather an intelligent commitment to progressively caring for the earth.  "Green Hotels" are environmentally-friendly properties that are eager to institute programs that save water, save energy and reduce solid waste--while saving money to be better stewards of our planet.  In Boston, the historical Lenox Hotel has launched the most comprehensive earth friendly program in the hotel industry.  We stay there!!

Simple things like water saver showers, not changing the sheets every day and composting restaurant waste along with utilizing solar energy all work to help Mother Earth.

To tell you our autumn Tuscany trip offers one of the finest Tuscany itineraries I have seen at an exceptional value ..........Enough said!!

Inspiration
A friend who lost her Dad in November and her brother in March wrote me...

"How do people without a sense of humor or spirit get through life?''  Laughter eases our breathing, relieves our pain, helps us to heal and renew our wounded yet resilient spirit.  I encourage you to take laughter wherever you go!

Anne Lamott writes.........
"Laughter is Carbonated Holiness"
