Greetings, Welcome to the women who have most recently signed up for our newsletter and thank you again to those women who are reserving, planning and taking Serendipity Traveler trips. I look forward to traveling with more of you. |
Beginnings
As September begins, I think of this time of year as the season that is filled with fresh beginnings, new choices and decisions. Kids as well as adults head off to school and we all ponder colorful new commitments in our daily routines. Yes, I will serve on the music committee or take a course at the local university or join the theatre group in town or volunteer with hospice or start walking every day or launch a new career or...... and the list of possibilities and the ways we can decide to use our time is endless. September often reawakens and encourages us to live fully while taking some dedicated personal time to enrich, enliven and expand ourselves. We chance to dream.
When your dreams include traveling, that is where we come in. Dreams are as individual as each of us. I just spoke with a woman who is dreaming and planning her first snorkel adventure with us in the Caribbean. Another client emailed with her dreams about our English Garden trip next May. My youngest daughter leaves for Italy and then on to India to study yoga this autumn. I am looking forward to our Walking in Wyoming trip which happens in a few weeks. I always have great fun meeting the women I have been talking with while planning their trips with us.

Serendipity Traveler Difference
My passion for travel is the spirit leading Serendipity Traveler. We are not a commercial women's tour company.
Our mission is to enhance the lives of women with our thoughtfully crafted itineraries and choosing destinations which offer outstanding natural beauty and culture.
It is not only choosing where to go, but when. Hurricane Dean reiterated how important it is to choose wisely when you travel. Perhaps it is the sailor in me who knows that boats don't leave the North for the Caribbean until after the weather window for hurricanes is long gone.
I suggest you consider the timing of trips and realize that when you go will enhance your trip. Italy in the summer is hot and totally overcrowded. Try spring or fall for your optimum enjoyment and comfort! Our itineraries are carefully crafted to offer you the best possible "when" to go... Call us with any questions, and to reserve your next trip @ 1-800-975-2357.

Travel Style
"Less is More" and that applies to luggage. A friend once suggested laying out all the clothes for a trip a few days ahead and then taking only half of them. I tried. Didn't quite manage half! For a week away we need a lot less than imagined. I still pack more than I need but am getting better at traveling lighter. Comfortable walking shoes are the most important item for me to pack. Prioritize for yourself what you can't live without and what will help you be the most comfortable when you step out of your comfort zone in another country or locale. For some, it may be your best outfit for dinner, others must pack an extra bag for the shopping they intend and yet others may consider a journal or sketch book for capturing all the daily memories. Some bring an extra pair of glasses while others pack favorite snacks. Be comfortable with whatever you pack and remember less is more when moving through airports, on trains and planes, buses, ferries and taxis.
P.S. A reminder on passports... the USA process continues to be significantly longer than anticipated for both renewals and new passports. Please allow 12 weeks unless you are going directly to a passport office with an appointment.

Autumn Reading
We have a few copies left of, "The Best of Women's Travel Writing 2007, Tales from Around the World". If you would like a copy please send us $17.95 which includes $1.00 for shipping and we'll send you one for your summer reading. The book reading we held in Rockport earlier this summer with Lucy McCauley the editor and two contributing writers was fun with lots of conversation, inspiration and delicious desserts..! Marie Foss, one of those in attendance, sent me this " Dear Peggy; Was so glad that I was able to attend the reading on Saturday - the authors were fascinating and hated to hear the program end....thanks for bringing them to Rockport!" Marie Foss Proceeds from the sale of the books go to the House of Hope Project in Dominica. Send your check for the book to Serendipity Traveler, Box 393, Rockport, MA 01966 and we will mail one to you. They make nice gifts for your friends.

Tuscany
A client called inquiring about our upcoming October trip to Tuscany. She had these questions: Are we a gay travel company? No we are definitely not a gay travel company. Many women want to travel and wish to travel with others rather than solo. Perhaps they are m arried and their husband doesn't like travel or he is a sailor and she is a walker, or they are single and their friends don't want to travel or go to the same places, or they may be recently widowed or divorced and are starting to travel and move into a new chapter in their life. Celebrations are another reason for women traveling - a landmark birthday, or an end to chemotherapy or medical treatments... discovering fresh directions, dreams and passions. There are a multitude of reasons why women like to join us and travel together. We talked a little longer and her questions continued... When we get there is she just left on her own? No... No... I accompany each group and we have expert local guides join us. We each have time on our own for independent explorations and the fun of the group as well. We do not herd you around like many tours I see while traveling. We allow plenty of time so you aren't rushing to see every sight listed in the guidebooks. Instead, you can be capturing the essence of where we are. Visit our website and refer to Details for more FAQ. www.serendipitytraveler.com.

Press
We are pleased to share that the Gloucester Daily Times, a north of Boston paper, featured Serendipity Traveler as an excellent resource for women's travel. Karen Hufford in Florida recently called for photos for a feature she is writing for Florida Today on our Yoga and Adventure trip to Dominica November 3-10.
Keep the fan mail coming. Our Rockport village post office loves the chocolates we give them when the mail begins to really stack up.
