In the midst of challenges and concerns about the future role of the aerospace & defense industry in our region, the British-American Business Council & the French-American Chamber of Commerce of the Pacific Northwest are pleased to bring you a half day conference that explores the topic through two panels, "The Technology Angle" moderated by James Morris, Boeing Vice President (retired), J2 Ventures, and "The Wall Street Angle" moderated by Thomas Captain, Principal, Deloitte LLP, Vice Chairman, Global & US Aerospace & Defense Industry Leader.

During these turbulent times, there are many issues in the technology arena that the Aerospace & Defense Industry has to deal with:  future Defense Department budgets, ailrine financial health, long and short term price of oil, impact of our products on our environment, airport & airway congestion and probability of continued air travel growth are just a sampling.  This panel will explore technology that can deal with product improvement areas such as fuel efficiency, emissions control and operating economics, as well as  mergers and acquisitions to gain the cirtical mass to apply to the issues.

What are the major issues and challenges that institutiional shareholders see in the industry, what has been the historical stock market performance of the industry, on a comparative basis, and what are the drivers of shareholder return?  These questions and an analysis of our regional competitiveness of workforce, cost of living, cost of design and manufacturing, supplier proximity, cultural environment, government tax burden, and infrastructure compared with other A&D industry focused states will be explored.
