Visitor Viewpoint

Douglas Raglin - 2011 visitor
Douglas Raglin visited for the first time at the Friendship Gathering.

"Being at Hummingbird supported my awakening process as well as challenged me to go deeper. I was impressed by the well thought out foundation for interacting with love, honesty and acceptance. The love field appears to be grounded in reality."

THE COMMUNITY IS EXPANDING!

Welcome to Hummingbird!

We are in joyful anticipation of the arrival of our new Exploring Relationship participants for 2012. Six individuals are taking the next step to explore their relationship with Hummingbird. They will live in our community for a year and participate in a variety of shared learning experiences, work on teams and offer their service while we experience what it is like to live as community. At the end of 2012 we will co-create what their next steps may be: becoming full time members of Hummingbird or stay connected as extended family. We welcome Anna, Carol, Gary, Lisa, Nancy and Nicola!

Regenerative Living

DONATE A VEHICLE AND HELP TRANSPORT HUMMINGBIRD AND OUR PLANET INTO GREATER SUSTAINABILITY
by Rich Ruster

Ruster's car is dead
Car that recently said "goodbye"

In the mainstream world, each household has at least one vehicle. Often the goal becomes for each household member to have their own vehicle, sometimes even more than one per person! While this ideal and practice maximizes freedom and options for each person, it greatly contributes to our global air pollution, our habit of consumerism and feeds America's appetite for petroleum.  READ FULL ARTICLE >

Simple Living Tip: SAVE $ & THE PLANET - SHARE CARS!

The benefits of car sharing include:

  • Fewer cars on the road leading to less air pollution
  • More resources for park development / urban green spaces
  • Indirect benefit of more walking and bicycling...and more

Sharing is Caring
NOTHING WE KNOW GROWS OR LIVES FOREVER
by Eileen Workman, excerpt from Sacred Economics

Our belief that constant growth is the goal of a healthy society has no foundation in reality. Everything we see-be it a tiger, a tree, a mountain or a star-follows the same universal life cycle. Everything is born, grows, reaches maturity and experiences the world through its interconnectedness with all other things; it then offers up something of value to the cosmos and eventually decays, to be efficiently recycled by the world.  READ FULL EXCERPT >
