Thanksgiving is the time of the harvest, a time to reflect on our year and all that we have sown, to be grateful for all the blessings in our lives.
Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in the US and Canada to honor the people who first settled this country, who had just survived their first year and first harvest. It was also to appreciate the help they had received from the Native American Indians that taught them how to live here, how to plant and how to grow in this new environment.
Though we are in new times, in very different, fast-paced and changing times, we can honor this ancient tradition and let it be a reminder for us to give thanks to everyone and everything in our lives. Give thanks to all you have been given this year. Appreciate the challenges and what you have learned from them. Celebrate in the growth, the joys, and even the sorrows. Remember to give thanks even to yourself, appreciate yourself for being there every step of the way.
Gratitude helps us get the most from everything we experience. So often we keep plugging along, forgetting to notice all the good things that have come to us, as we get into a hurried pace and quickly move on to what is next. And we forget to receive, or feel we haven't received anything. Perhaps we need to remember to appreciate the gifts we have.
No matter how small or insignificant, practicing gratitude helps us to vibrate in the energy of receiving, the energy of love, the energy of abundance.
