Pitfalls of Implementing a TEM Program

A successful Telecom Expense Management program will focus beyond "expense" management.  Too many companies take a limited view of TEM and ultimately fail at driving the return on investment (ROI).  Here are the most common pitfalls:

1) Focusing on just technology

2) Focusing on just the "expense"

3) Not prioritizing your audits

4) Missing the opportunity to simplify

5) Cutting out Accounts Payable

6) The "Big Bang" Approach

From the Helpdesk...

The Advocate Networks Mobile Helpdesk Service is a single channel for all technical support issues and requests from device setup and troubleshooting to usage inquiries. Over the past month, some of our most common issues include:

  • E-mail not syncing to device
  • Voice Mail password resets
  • Calendar and Contacts are not syncing from corporate email server
  • New device activation

Strangely enough, in most cases, simply turning the device off and powering it up again will solve about 75% of these small issues.

Greetings!

In a technology landscape that is constantly and rapidly changing, is your network capable of handling the increased demand, growing number of applications, and security issues? Recently, Cisco released a report that had some interesting facts:

  • Over half of young employees (ages 21-29) say that the "most important technology in their lives" is their mobile device
  • 69 percent of IT managers see the role of the network increasing in the next 3 years
  • The use of video is on the rise for consumer and enterprise communications -almost seven in ten IT professionals expect the use of video to increase
  • According to UK-based analyst firm, Telesperience, international data traffic is doubling every year from 2009-2014
  • 2/3 of network experts are already experiencing negative effects from capacity issues
  • Over 50 percent of IT managers are deploying/ planning to deploy cloud computing in the near future
The numbers continue to show that communication in various forms - voice, video, and data - will surpass expectations. Be prepared and know your bandwidth capabilities. Have you had a Network Demand Planning review lately?

Community Service

In what has become an annual tradition over the last 10 years, this month's community service project involved a trip up to Sugar Valley, GA to visit the Mountain Top Boys Home. This non-profit organization provides housing, counseling, and guidance for troubled or disadvantaged boys and young men at their beautiful facility bordering the Chattahoochee National Forest. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to give back at the Mountain Top Boys Home many times since our founding and look forward to continuing in the future. On this visit, our team brought several donated items and spent the day doing yard work and painting projects. With over 488 acres total, grounds maintenance can be a big task!

Final Note

Did you know you only have 13 weeks left this year to finish up your projects, meet your customers' expectations and plan for 2012. The final quarter of this year's marathon is upon us and so, as every runner knows, you need to focus on the finish line.  However hard and painful the project has become the end is in sight where you can complete the project and then start to prepare for the next race. If you need advice and support please give us a call, we are here to help.

Sincerely,
