Pinnacle Awards Nominations Accepted Through October 16
Are you aware of a
business, industry, or a non-profit organization that deserves an award for excellence?
Now is your chance
to nominate yourself, a supplier, a customer, or another West Tennessee
non-industry, for-profit business to be a 2009 Pinnacle Award winner. The 2009 event will again include award categories for non-profit organizations and industrial companies. To nominate, simply send the company
name and reason for nomination to The Chamber, Attn: Pinnacle Awards, PO Box 1904, Jackson, TN 38302 or email them to lwebb@jacksontn.com.

Pinnacle Awards are designed to recognize local companies that demonstrate

product/service orientation of local businesses, several Pinnacle awards are
established to appropriately judge and award those who are deserving of these
honors. The nomination deadline is Friday, October 16.

Chamber Member Profile - First South Bank

In business since 1903, First
South Bank has seen a lot of bull and bear markets. They've seen customers
through both happy days and economic downturns. They even made it through the
Great Depression. And First South Bank is still around to help today's customers
- from those who also lived through the Great Depression to those who want to
check their current balance from their cell phone.
First South Bank was
chartered in 1903 as Hardeman County Savings Bank. Today, First South Bank has
135 employees and 10 bank locations in Madison, Dyer, Hardeman and Haywood
counties. Three locations, including the main office at 1862 U.S. 45 Bypass,
are in Jackson. Three others are in Hardeman County; two are in Haywood County,
and two others in Dyer County. Hunter Simmons is president and chief executive
officer over all First South Bank branches, but each branch also has its own
officers.
The bank offers a host of
traditional banking services, including loans and checking and savings
accounts, but it also offers other products such as health savings accounts,
insurance, investments and internet and telephone banking.
"We offer a suite of
electronic banking services for consumers and businesses that make banking
hassle free," says Rita Bryant, a senior vice president for First South Bank,
"and in many cases, you never have to come in the bank."
Customers can sign up for
internet banking, bill paying, mobile banking and electronic statements and
have everything they need on their computer's desk top or their cell phone.
