Jackson Welcomes Carlisle Tire & Wheel
Team Madison County is pleased to announce that Carlisle Tire & Wheel, a subsidiary of Carlisle Companies (NYSE:CSL) will establish a division in Jackson, Tenn.
The company, headquartered in Aiken, SC, manufactures tires, inner tubes, and wheels for agriculture, all terrain vehicles, golf, industry, lawn and garden, and trailer markets. Carlisle Tire & Wheel will purchase the Whirlpool facility; a decision that will create more than 400 jobs.
Carlisle Tire and Wheel began as a company in 1917 as a manufacturer of automotive tire inner tubes. The company survived the Great Depression and World War Two and experienced strong growth in the post war period through a diversification of its product lines. Because of its investment in Tennessee, the company will qualify for a variety of statutory incentives, including FastTrack Job Training Assistance, Industrial Machinery Tax Credits and Jobs Tax Credits.
Jackson continues to grow and provide jobs in the industrial sector due to the efforts of Team Madison County, which is comprised of the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, Jackson Energy Authority, TVA, the City of Jackson, Madison County, and includes the state's Department of Economic and Community Development, led by Commissioner Matt Kisber.
"We are pleased to be a part of Team Madison County and that Carlisle Tire & Wheel recognizes the advantages of doing business here by selecting Jackson for this new investment," said John Bradley, TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development. "The 400-plus jobs they will create will continue to help grow opportunities in this progressive community."

It's Loud, It's In Your Face, and It's Bouncing off the Walls
Volunteers of the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Race the Clock to Tell the Chamber Story While most Chambers of Commerce struggle with a membership drive, The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce will host a 'Membership Event' that is like none other. For two and a half days, over 100 volunteers will work against the clock and against each other to sign up new chamber members and create a greater community awareness of the important role of the chamber of commerce. The event is organized by a group called Your Chamber Connection whose specialty is high energy membership campaigns that allow volunteers to conduct 'out of the box' membership fun while building the membership base. "It's about business," says Event guru, Jimmy Cusano. "The Chamber of Commerce is the business community. This brings everyone together to build our chamber. It's a membership- based organization and most people don't like 'membership drives. With a Membership Event they come together in a competitive fun setting and tell the chamber story. When others hear about everything the chamber does, all of a sudden you have a great deal of enthusiasm for the chamber, and a great deal of support." The Jackson Area Chamber Membership Event will kick off on August 18 and conclude August 20. For more information on how you can be involved, call Tammy Boyd at the Chamber, 423-2200.
