PATCO CARES

The PATCO Cares program welcomed the LIVESTRONG of South Jersey to the Ashland Station and Clean Communities to the Haddonfield Station on June 26, 2012.

LIVESTRONG was created by Lance Armstrong. The foundation has been working to improve the lives of people affected by cancer since 1997. They raise money and provide support to guide people through the cancer experience. They believe that unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. They started as a small group trying to fight this disease. As cancer quietly became the world's leading cause of death, their work has expanded and now reaches every corner of the globe. For more information on how you can help, go to www.livestrong.org

Clean Communities Funds a volunteer program, known as Stewards of Open Space in Camden County (SOS), is currently being coordinated through the non-profit South Jersey Land and Water Trust (SJLWT). In its first year of operation (2010-2011), SJLWT coordinated six cleanups on open lands either owned by the County or adjacent to such lands. More than fifteen tons of litter and illegally dumped waste were removed by more than 150 volunteers. Interested volunteers can contact Michael Hogan at hoganphoto@verizon.net.
