Happy Holidays from PATCO
PATCO wishes its customers a happy, safe and healthy holiday season and a Happy New Year.
PATCO Car Overhaul
The largest capital improvement project in the history of the Delaware River Port Authority has been approved by the PATCO Commissioners. Over the next five years, Alstom Transportation Inc., of Hornell, New York will work to overhaul PATCO's fleet of 120 rail cars.
Ring In the New Year
On December 31, head down to the Philadelphia Camden Waterfront and ring in the new year under the bright lights of the Twice the Fireworks! Twice the Fun! Fireworks shows. This year offers two fireworks displays, an evening show at 6 p.m., and the traditional display at the stroke of midnight. Ride PATCO and avoid the traffic.

But wait, there's more! Ride PATCO into Center City on New Year's Day and watch your favorite string band perform at the Mummers Parade. Exit at PATCO's 13th and Locust Street station for convenient access to the parade route along Broad Street.
PATCO Fare Update
The PATCO Board has approved a resolution postponing for six months the fare hike that was scheduled to take effect on January 1st. PATCO fares will now increase 10% on July 1, 2011.
PATCO at Work for You
PATCO riders may have noticed additional custodial staff in PATCO stations during the daytime. This is all part of an effort to enhance the cleaning and maintenance of our stations.
Commuter Tax Benefit Remains
Good news for transit users! Congress recently passed a one-year cap to keep the eligible Commuter Tax Benefit at $230/month, instead of allowing it to expire to the 2009 level of $120/month. The $230 Commuter Tax Benefit applies to transit and vanpool commuters and a $20/month benefit is available to bicycle commuters.

How does this apply to you? If you already have a Commuter Benefits program at your organization, you can continue to receive the transit & vanpool cap of $230/month and bicycle commuter cap of $20/month. If you don't have a Commuter Benefits Program at your organization, ask your benefits administrator to find out how to save money for your co-workers and your organization by promoting transit, vanpool and bicycle commuting. It's estimated that employers save an average of 10% on payroll taxes and employees save an average of 40% on commute costs through a Tax Benefits Program.
Wodcrest Station Escalator Repair Update
The downward escalator at Woodcrest Station from the eastbound platform has been out of service.  The repairs required are extensive and required Board approval of the expense.  Parts have been ordered and the work to return this unit to service is underway.
