PATCO Innovates Again - Pilot Using Credit Cards May Soon Begin
At its inception, PATCO pioneered the use of automated ticket purchasing and closed-circuit television monitoring of stations.

Just a few short years ago, PATCO innovation led the way for the introduction of the automated fare collection system, now known as, FREEDOM.

And in 2010, we look to innovate again, by being among the first transit systems in the country to accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards at the fare gates. This latest innovation will be considered by the PATCO Board of Commissioners at its next Board Meeting on October 6. With Board approval, PATCO will work with Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc., to pilot a credit card program at PATCO for a period of one year. This no-cost-to-PATCO pilot program will allow PATCO to gain experience with bank-issued contactless credit and debit cards.
