DRPA Police Force Joins National Public Safety Campaign
Police Officers from the Delaware River Port Authority are cracking down on drunk drivers as part of the "Over the Limit, Under Arrest" 2010 statewide crackdown.  Now through September 6th, local and state police will conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints, looking for drivers who may be driving while intoxicated.

Special variable message signs are located at all four DRPA bridges.  Launched nationally in 1999, the program works to combat drunk driving during some of the busiest travel times of the year.

The DRPA took part in the program last year and during the campaign police made 8 arrests for drunken driving.  The total number of DWI arrests for the Port Authority last year was 142.

Attendees met with vendors representing small, veteran-owned, disadvantaged, minority and women-owned businesses that offered various products and services from industrial supplies to environmental services to engineering management. PATCO Goes Green
PATCO recently began the process of recycling newspapers, glass and plastic with the placement of special trash receptacles at the Lindenwold, Ashland and Woodcrest Stations.  The special green receptacles with a recycling decal are located mostly on the station platforms although they will be available in other locations. The program will be expanded to include all other PATCO stations including the four subway stations in Philadelphia. PATCO now joins the DRPA's four bridge facilities and its headquarters One Port Center in Camden in implementing single stream municipal waste recycling.
