Battelle - 75 Years of Innovation
Innovation leader, Battelle and renowned science center, COSI have joined forces to promote both science and entrepreneurship in Ohio?s youth. By making a contribution of $35,000, Battelle has become a presenting sponsor of Ohio Business Week (OBW) 2007. COSI, who is known for engaging visitors with hands-on experiences that make science fun, will promote innovation through a workshop for students attending the program at Ohio Dominican University.

?We are fortunate to have the support of two great innovative leaders that have made significant contributions in the education arena and in the promotion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) academic programs,? said Ohio Business Week Foundation Executive Director and CEO Nancy Whetstone.

Scotts Miracle Gro
The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company is the world's leading lawn and garden company, and once again a presenting sponsor of Ohio Business Week (OBW) 2007. Their continued support has provided more than $37,000 in contributions since 2003.

Nancy Whetstone, executive director of The Ohio Business Week Foundation said, ?Their generous contribution will help these students become business leaders tomorrow.?

Ron Nischwitz
On January 5, Ohio Business Week Foundation founder Ron Nischwitz was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The ceremony, which took place in Orlando, Florida, was part of the American Baseball Coaches Association?s (ABCA) National Convention which organizes more than 5,700 coaches and nationally recognizes outstanding achievements.

While at The Ohio State University, Nischwitz led the university in strikeouts and innings pitched (?57, ?58). During his Major League career he pitched three years with the Detroit Tigers and one year with the Cleveland Indians, and, after retirement, coached The Wright State Raiders to nearly 870 victories. In 2006 , Nischwitz was inducted into The Ohio State University Athletics Hall of Fame. He founded the Ohio Business Week Foundation in 1988 and continues to strongly support the program.
Eighty-three percent of Americans gave to charities in 2006, according to a December 2006 Wall Street Journal Online Harris Interactive Personal Finance Poll.

The survey asked 2,939 respondents to choose their top reasons for giving. More than half of the respondents believe their contributions will make an impact and 76 percent gave aid because they believe in the cause.
